I was wondering what role Sky played in this . They're the paymaster , they must be backing this to.

Should be same money for all clubs in our league no parachute payments we get pittance compared to SL

The very fact that ALL the Super League clubs voted unanimously for this structure should tell us Championship clubs something!!!!

At the end of this season 2 clubs will drop down to this league (SL2) with a parachute payment.    The top four in this league (SL2) will receive payments of £650k, £600k, £550k, and £500k.    It is not rocket science to grasp that those 6 clubs will be able to recruit better quality players than the rest of us in this league and therefore it will be four of those six who will be taking on the bottom four SL clubs, all on £1.3 million funding to try to get in to SL1 for the following season.

All the cards are packed in favour of the four Super League clubs (then the 2 that come down with parachute payments).   Sure they have brought back P & R,  -  in their minds only.     I can understand maybe Fev wanting this and believing that they could be one of the four because of their millionaire backer, etc, but the big question for all the other Championship clubs who have supported this is WHY?

How much funding would Town get if they a, finished in the top 9 or b, finished outside (which would be an absolute disaster) the top 9? Does anyone know?

The top four get what I posted in an earlier post - £650k down to £500k.     The 5th placed I believe get £250k then it drops down by about £12.5k per position and the bottom team (12th) gets £150k, which is £60k more than all Championship clubs get now.

This could have happened without the ludicrous splitting in to 3 leagues of 8 teams.   A simple 2 leagues of 12 with 1 team relegated and 1 team promoted would have served the purpose for what was needed.

I believe teams in Championship 1 will get about £75k.

Well if the minimum that a club is going to be better off is 60k compared to now, that is why it is being voted in by the chairmen outside of the probable candidates for promotion.

At the end of the day they have reintroduced P&R albeit in a very diluted form which is what everyone was crying out for. And let's face it many clubs are looking more to survive and consolidate than push for SL, so the extra 60k isn't to be sniffed at especially if it was put to them that this was the only deal on the table. As it isn't a closed shop anymore the RFL can pat themselves on the back for a job well done and the chairmen who's clubs are on the verge of dying can also sleep at night for a while longer.

I can't say I think it's a good idea because I don't and I think the RFL like change for the sake of it. It's done now do it should be left alone now to see if it can work and the RFL should start listening to Mr Koukash about concentrating on growing the game and attracting sponsors.

Doing away with the salary cap would be a start that wouldn't cost them a bean so the likes of Salford and Wigan etc can bring the stars of RL back to these shores and make the competition more attractive to sponsors.

So is that 5 to be relegated from our league this season then ? Or 6 if 2 come up from C1 ? Or 7 if they admit Toulouse next season ? What a mess, you could finish 8th and go down !

As far as im aware derwent theres gonna be no promotion from champ1 this season meaning top 10 should be ok top 9 if toulouse are let bk in but everybody needs to know the toulouse crac before the season starts then you know what you've gotta do to be safe no good thinking your safe then getting told in October im sorry weve just accepted toulouse your relegated

The money amounts I quoted previously are all reliant on the SL clubs agreeing to allow Championship clubs a share of "their" money.   Remember that Mr Lenaghan and friends walked out of a meeting about this and there is another meeting yet to come (Tuesday, I think) where they will discuss governance and finances.

Yesterday's meeting was only to agree the future structure of the leagues.

Just read that keith basically says 2 up 2 down from 2015 between bottom 2 leagues but doesn't say whats happening this season whether its 4 or 5 going down

Good point voodoo . The lack of sponsors is alarming and pretty unacceptable for a major national sport , and the governance of the game by the RFL in terms of promotion and growth , among other things , is sadly lacking . They should be concentrating on those - it should be an open goal with the product we have , but for some reason it isn't ? Koukash has come in and he sees the reality now from the inside . He has some valid points . I don't agree with salary caps , we haven't got the level playing field with it . Top stars playing here is the best promotion of the game you can get . If he can do it then let him !

The salary cap was brought in firstly to try and stop clubs from overspending and getting them into financial trouble which has failed, and secondly to try and even up the competition which again has failed. So now the top clubs can't afford the Slaters or Thurstons without breaching the cap and the result is SL is now much inferior to the NRL with most of the Aussies coming over not being the superstars of the game, and our home bred stars all going to play in the NRL.

It would be an easier product to market with an Inglis etc playing here.

Wigan,so i have been told ?and annakin as well so i have been told?and my cousin who supports wigan has told me that we have got the prop he recommended?but the club will let us know soon who we have and have not got but was told we are bringing in 5 players on loan,so if the three are as above any guesses who the other two will be,now thats a poser haha, sorry about the "so i have been told"but thats what i have been told L.O.L.

Well if we're looking for a sprinkle across the board the three mentioned gives us an outside back / prop / back row ... So the other two should be half and fullback ideally .Or half and a Walne would do . Can we not squeeze to 6 !!! I thought there may be one or two more top local amateurs on board this preseason , that must be our focus in this hotbed , but that's gone very quiet . Interesting admission in the star the other day that haven found it hard to get them after the open invitation !

If the 2 loans are who we have been told and skywalker another then thats 3 top quality signings. Another 2 would finish us off. Jordan and adam would finish off a very competetive side. Then bring in forrester when he returns from injury for cover for brett.

It's not a major national sport. It's only played at a decent level in 3 areas plus anywhere else the RFL cares to throw their money at, that's why the sponsorship is so poor. You have to remember even the BBC only wanted the England games and the final and that was for the biggest competition the sport has.

I hope the craic of a long loan half comes off to . You'd ideally want 4 specialists covering them two spots and it gives freshness
