Middleman

the Dr Fined before a tackle is made ?

Judging by the comments made by the Salford Owner , it seems an unwelcome ( but predictable ) letter has arrived .

Marwan Koukash‏@drmarwanK·2 hrs
Got a letter this morning that f***** p****d me off, but it came as no surprise . It is not the first time and won't be the last

Marwan Koukash‏@drmarwanK·1 hr
I enjoyed last week even at the cost of £3,000.

Marwan Koukash

I love living in England as I can enjoy my freedom of speech . I will fight for my freedom to do so and will NEVER be silenced.

If true , it does raise a serious question about the freedom to air views that are at odds with the ' company line '

It will be interesting to hear ' the full story ' ..

Not a very professional way for someone of his standing to conduct themselves in public, lovely choice of language too.

Is this even the real Koucash?  I've always assumed it's a joke account a la the Kockrash one.

It's his account.

Accepted his delivery can be ' choice ' at times , but at the same time he must be one of the friendiest, approachable figure in the game.

the pertinent question must be is the ' hand slap ' for delivery , or content ?

I would imagine its dealt with the same as refs. It's fine to say they are rubbish but if you bring their integrity into question then you are likely to be done. As you say would be interesting to find out exactly what he's been done for.

There is freedom of speech in this country not freedom of slander. It's a fine line sometimes but some people need a reminder of that, although equally those in authority do as well. Can't think any specific thing he has said that would be fineable though

He was critical of an awful lot last week :-http://www.totalrl.com/web/marwan-koukash-rips-rfl-salford-media-day/

TV Deal = Length & Value of

SL Clubs to have ' more control

the re-appointment of the national coach

Salary Cap- Marquee Player rule

 so doesn't narrow it down , whether it was ' slander' ? I don't know .

one wonders whether he's been singled out as I said for content or delivery ? and if there's another letter on another desk ?

the only thing I can think is some element of breech of commercial confidentiality but that's a stretch. Tone of his comments is dubious, far too subjective

I'm getting bored of Koukash now.

I hope he gets some salary cap benefits, and that he takes over Swinton. But I wish he would start to shut up about it!

Nonetheless, if we're talking freedom of speech, it's clear that it is a problem in any walk of life, from the bottom up, whether we like it or not. Not sure what fining a man worth 100s of millions with a few thousand pounds will do, mind...

If Dr K had not gone onTwitter with this the public would not have known because the RFL seem to lack the will for transparency;probably because their bias would be acknowledged by all.

Dr K being fined for having an opinion does seem arbitrary.

I take it the person who had 'serious misgivings' about a decision made by UKAD was NOT fined.

I also take it the person who was quoted as saying - "This decision is purely down to bureaucracy and red tape and it is so disappointing that rugby league players are treated differently to other professional sportsmen and how little influence our governing body seem to have compared to other sports," - also escaped censure.

Kath Hetherington made the first quote while NOT involved in the sport

Gary Hetherington made the second quote - http://www.sportinglife.com/rugby-league/news/article/480/8479015/kylie-leuluai-denied-loan-switch

It's all PR it's all spin, it gets the world out for Salford and being talked about.

There were as many at the fans day as there may have been season ticket holders previously. Why is that? Whether you like it or not it is because of him.

It is really important that the RFL do not silence Dr K. For the first time in ages we actually heard real opinions from the people running our clubs. Don't agree with it all, but it is not helpful at all for all the people running our clubs to say nothing.

For the first time in my memory of this sport someone is prepared to take marketing seriously and set about doing it properly. For the first time since I started watching TGG there is someone who has fallen in love with it and is willing to take it to the next level. If the Good Doctor leaves in the morning it wont be because he or his team failed it will be because of the reactions to his attempts to change the status quo. It is very hard to discern, between the misquotes, misunderstandings and deliberate attempts at misleading what is real and what is fiction about Dr Koukash. When I listen to what he says and then see the quotes of what I just listened to I begin to doubt if the writer and I were in the same place or on the same planet. In the words of Ron Sexsmith ,

"Something I said has got you so mad
You wanna give me a piece of your mind
If you intend on making me feel bad
You best get in line

It's a long line, it's a long line
It's going out the door
You'll be waiting in line
A very long time till your feet are sore"

Or do you like things the way they are?

Keep it up Doc! What a guy!

At this rate the improved sky deal will be overtaken by fines.

I'm glad his gazillions are finally being put to some use.

I heard he was slagging off Bradford, where there's blame; there's a claim.

Theres a fair few assumptions in there. Anything to back any of it up?
