Faal at centre for me, big lad. No room for Mullaley or Johnson? It's not a question of just picking a team, it's picking a team to win the particular match you're heading into, and I think we need our biggest and most experienced team out at Leigh to get off to a good start. As we know a) they've recruited enormously and B) expect us to be a roll-over according to their site, so we have to show that we can match them without spending all that money and that we won't roll over. JK will know all this and have it all taken into consideration when he puts his team out. Never yet have we rolled over, not even against SL teams in cupties, so no reason to think we will on Sunday. So, we haven't won at Leigh since the very first Premier Sports match, no reason for cockiness on their part, they'll know they've had a game.

Mull hasn't played for us pre season but i can see young aspinall or mason been called up both big lads like gledhill and brennan i'm glad i'm not coach because jk has got the toughest job picking 17 players to go do the job on them..

I'd go with the biggest/hardest pack I could.

If the weather is like today, it will be a forward battle up the middle, with very little guile and subtlety so best to try and wear them down.

Chairman , would it make a difference to your selection , noting that the giants have a free weekend , meaning mullalley is probably available

I understood that Giants DR's were to be with us for the season? Anyone who has read my previous rantings about DR will know that I was totally against it at the beginning, always quoting the way Swinton and Hunslet especially had really bastardised the system. However, now the restructuring mess has hit the fan, I feel that it's of the greatest importance that we turn out the strongest team possible each week to maximise our chances of hitting the required target. If that means having to play the allowed 5 Dr's every week then we should do it,like it or not, - let's face it, they're DR's because they're a cut above the rest of the squad we can afford to assemble, if they weren't then they wouldn't be signed with The Giants in the first place, they'd be fighting to ply their trade with either ourselves or fellow championship clubs. I know this could jeopardise the positions of those of our own registered players, who, like Potter and Scott last term, might ask to move on, but I feel it's a chance JK has to take. Players like Mullaley, Fairbank (who also had a first team run at Broncos?) and Johnson have put in impressive performances at Giants in SL so no reason why an extended run in our team shouldn't pay well. In the Boxing Day game, those who played in the backs also showed great promise.

Larne patrick is out after wigan game last week. The giants forward twisted his knee. Probably a dislocation and tear so thats one young forward moving up the pecking order.

Banned for betting on the Final.

Batley Bulldogs players suspended for gambling breaches

Two Batley Bulldogs players have been suspended by an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal after they were found to have breached the sport’s rules relating to betting.

Jonny Campbell has been suspended for 12 months for placing bets on a number of matches, including the 2013 Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final, Batley Bulldogs v Sheffield Eagles, in which he played.

Campbell placed a bet for the first points of the Grand Final to come from a Batley penalty goal and placed a handicap bet on the fixture.

Ayden Faal has been suspended for six months after placing a bet for the first points of the 2013 Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final to come from a Batley penalty goal. Faal did not play in the match.

Under RFL Operational Rules D1:10© players shall not be involved in any manner or capacity whatsoever, whether for his own account or on behalf of any other person, in any betting in respect of any Rugby League match or competition.

Players are also bound by Operational Rule E5 in the Code of Conduct which prevents the placing, accepting, laying or otherwise entering into any wager, bet or other form of financial speculation with any individual, company, organisation or other body in relation to the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any match, competition or event.

Campbell and Faal were also deemed to have breached Operational Rule E5.3.1.3.1 which forbids players from using in relation to betting any information they have by virtue of their position within the sport that is not in the public domain or readily accessible by the public.

Both players were investigated after the activity came to light through intelligence supplied by the Sports Betting Intelligence Unit of the Gambling Commission, with whom the RFL works collaboratively to monitor betting activity.

The Tribunal accepted that there was no suggestion of match fixing in the breaches of Operational Rules by Campbell and Faal.
