Not a lot to report here at Odsal at HT. Close game, even sides at the moment. Bulls seem mentally ok. Good crowd.

18-36 FT.

Cas scored 14 or so in last 15 minutes, so could have been closer.

What went wrong?  I could only follow it on teletext and when I saw we were 18 14 up well into the second half I thought we were going to scrape it.  I couldn't believe it when I saw the final score.

Someone has said it elsewhere but if we get a points deduction then think we are as good as down. Once Cas went ahead there was nobody who could take the game by the scruff of the neck and win it. Cas weren't amazing and yet really pulled away the end. Paper thin squad's going to kill us,  we have no grunt and little creativity. Coming out of the ground I don't think you could find a single fan that would still predict we'll stay up. Utterly depressing.

The Bulls  ran out of steam in the last 15 minutes. That's because we didn't have any chop tacklers and spent the whole game trying to drag players to the floor.  Up  till then it had been a reasonable game with nobody bad and only Craig Huby outstanding on either team. Liam Finn made a big difference when he came on and looked like he should have been in Superleague for the past five years.

Referee Hicks decided early on that he would have a much easier afternoon if he didn't bother about forward passes and offside under bombs. Cas took advantage of this better than we did.

The spirit wasn't too bad and we were workmanlike. The halfbacks will take a few more games to gel, though I thought Lee Gaskell's performance was very promising. We've two decent wingers with Luke George waiting his chance; however, too often they have to go looking for the ball.... our centres never draw a man to make space to send them away.

God, we need another prop. Could be a long season.

What went wrong?

No respect for possession, spilling ball in the first two tackles. Marching Cas up the field with penalty after penalty. No strength in the pack, no creativity no game winners and a lot of players out on their feet. Seems like once again we can only play 45/50 minutes.

This is the reality of it. People claiming that Bradford will somehow be saved need to realise this.

Well I have to say that that wasn't too bad all in all. The spirit was good, half backs looked threatening and Kearney looked fit and ready. The reason we lost the game was because we kept coughing the ball up in our own end, we were simply gifting Cas possession and field position. That and having two scores chalked off.

If I have a main worry then it's the pack. It just doesn't have enough go forward, and gawd knows what happens when we get some injuries.

Just watched the brief highlights of the game on Superleague Fulltime.

Brief, but detailed enough to confirm that Hicks' refereeing was just not good enough.
