post-7513-0-73974600-1393700678_thumb.jpgWent to watch Dewsbury Celtic at home to Shaw Cross today in NCL 1. Superb attendance, great weather and what a match. Celtic 4-0 up within 5 minutes. Then Shaw Cross down to 12 men when the ref sent one of the lads off for what didn't seem much to be honest. But that seemed to fire Shaw Cross up and they went in at half time , I believe 12-4 up with 2 superb tries scored right in the corner. After half time they went further in front 18-4 with another scored in the corner, superbly converted. Celtic then hit back with a scorcher in the top right corner, winger diving full length to touch down. All on again 18-10 to Cross. Tillotson then dropped a goal for Cross and with only 15 mins to go Celtic looked finished. It got worse for Celtic as Cross scored again and converted 25-10 and 10 minutes left. But RL is a game of momentum and Celtic winger crossed in the top left corner and conversion 25-16. The same guy crossed a couple of minutes later after another cracking move, goal missed, all of a sudden 3 minutes left Shaw Cross 25- Celtic 20. Last minute worked down the left again and the wingman (HAT TRICK) in again 25-24 goal to come. All on Pat Foulton to convert from the touchline and he did. Cross kicked off and the ref blew his whistle. 26-25 to Celtic. Shaw Cross devastated Celtic jubilant, along with Deryck Fox the new coach. What a game and what an advert for the NCL. Was great to see Ryan Glynn at the game after he had walked from Shaw Cross to Crows Nest to raise money for the RFL Benevolent Fund. Well done Ryan and great to see you recovering from such a serious injury.

From the conference right down to the Under 7's, there is real talent amongst the amateur ranks.

The junior season kicked off today, but it is not too late to get your children signed on. Anyone that has kids aged 6 upwards, consider taking them along to a local club and getting them involved in our game - They may be a star of the future! But if nothing else they are keeping our sport alive.
