Many years ago I used to go drinking at Oxford University Conservative Association bashes.  They didn't require you to join, cost a fiver or so and had unlimited cocktails.  All you had to do was put up with the OUCA types for an hour or so and you could get trashed very cheaply.   Happy days.

What that taught me about the Tories was that they actually laugh at people like you.

You are a voting Tory and working class.    Sure, I think you're a fool but what's worse is the Tories that you support think so too.

This is the breeding ground for top Tories, and they hate you.  They really do.

I rather think you are a fool too, and that opinion is based purely on the post I am now replying to, which reads as extremely silly.

You can understand why billionaires, multi-millionaires, bankers, city spivs etc vote Tory but why unemployed people who live in a two up, two down do is really hard to fathom and is beyond me.

That's because people don't all fit into the ideological stereotypes of the Bob Crows of this world.  Thankfully.

Always? Besides the recent tube strike I'm struggling to remember a train workers strike recently.

I was thinking of when I lived in London (over a decade ago).

I daresay that a fair number of career Labour MPs hate the working class too, I daresay that a lot of old Labour types hate middle class luvvies.

Eh?  You're struggling to remember a train workers' strike besides the recent train workers' strike?

I think I'll get over it.

Very sad to hear of Bob's untimely death. Bob articulated what many of us on the left feel. A working class voice in a sea of identikit middle class clones who use the Labour Movement for their own career advancement. He was one of us, whilst they only misrepresent us. RIP Comrade!

Interesting comment. Bob Crow believed, among other things, in capital punishment, as indeed many working class people seem to do. I doubt whether many of the middle class clones do, and I would be surprised if you do.

So it seems that if you go to Oxford, even if you're not from Eton and come from a Huddersfield comprehensive, as I think you did, you end up thinking that working class people are fools.

Isn't it time to close the place down?

"Support for the death penalty tends to be strongest amongst Conservative voters..."

Yes, besides one a couple of weeks ago that was only in London I can't think of any other rail strikes in recent years. And once does not equate to "always".

Besides, it's the union leader who calls for a strike it's the union members and they need the mandate of a ballot to do so.

He was also a Millwall supporter. That probably had an impact on his viewpoint regarding crime.

Indeed he did, indeed I don't. You might have noticed that those of us on the left don't always agree.

What a ludicrous thing to say, but then you're a specialist in such statements. Have you ever thought about becoming a tabloid journalist?

Do you maybe want to read my post again because you clearly didn't understand it the first time.

FWIW I apologise to Saintslass for calling her a fool. I was rather rude to frame a straightforward disagreement with her in such personal terms.
