New signing announced

It's unfortunate that, due to finance, the cream of the talent in this league is concentrated at three clubs. It's an even sadder state of affairs that some players who would undoubtedly boost our squad aren't even regulars for those clubs - and, in reality, aren't even really needed.

Although we need threequarters, there's absolutely no point in recruiting someone who isn't an improvement on what we already have simply to boost numbers. In mitigation, the club have made moves to bring quality to the club. It's not John Kear's fault that we were royally shafted over the both the Hardman and Saxton deals, and were unable to meet the avaricious and ridiculous wage demands of a 32 year old, unemployed Australian with whom a deal had been virtually agreed.

Re the Charlie Martin signing; we have to try and recruit any available player of sufficient quality when they become available at a price within our bracket - regardless of position. I'd have thought that concept would be recognised as simple common sense by most people.

Agree with what you have said Tom, Martin is a good signing but today we were able to play 2 forwards in the centre positions it worked against kells who visibly tired as the game progressed but there are a lot of good sides in the championship who will exploit our weak backline. A gree now is the wrong time to try and sign threequarters but as is the feeling among supporters the players involved in the betting scandel were almost certainly going to be banned we should have expected this and not included them in the pre season games. Then was the time to recruit
