Good news for MotoGP fans!

ITV have confirmed to MCN that, contrary to reports that BT Sport would be the exclusive right holders for MotoGP in the UK, they will also be showing a delayed highlights package on ITV Four during the week after a race.

Update 13/03/14: Insider sources have informed MCN that ITV4's highlights will air at 8pm on the Monday night following a MotoGP weekend.

Okay, so it is only highlights, and doesn't mention Moto2 or Moto3, but it's still one hell of a lot better than nothing.

And, unlike some sports, it is fairly easy to avoid MotoGP results 'til the day after the race. I'd imagine that the BBC won't be mentioning the results as much now they don't have the rights.

From the ITV4 Schedule for next Monday:

MotoGP Highlights: Qatar
Monday 24th March on ITV4 from 8:00pm to 9:00pm
Two-wheel action from the opening race of the season at the Losail International Circuit at Doha, the capital of Qatar. The 5.4 km circuit has a good mix of medium and high-speed corners making it popular for riders and fans alike. In 2008 Qatar celebrated the first night time Grand Prix in history following the construction of permanent outdoor lighting. The switch to night time racing was a success and has continued to be so, with the Qatar event now established as one of the most spectacular on the MotoGP calendar. SUB

Bump. Just a reminder, it is on tonight at 8pm. The BBC's digital text service and Radio 5 sports reports now deem MotoGP to be a "non-sport", so I haven't accidentally heard the result.

Five Live had a long(ish) preview on Sunday lunchtime.

Don't know if they covered it after the race.

SPOILER: A bike ridden by a human won.

I missed the preview, and MotoGP did finally appear on the BBC digital text service, which I checked after watching the race.

The good news is that the MotoGP race is extensively covered, but still leaving time for shorter highlights of Moto2 and Moto3.

A pretty good race too, although it was a pity Bradley Smith crashed out,as well as a few others who might have made the podium battle more interesting.
