Keighley Cup tie

Recommended Posts

Early indications are that the Lions will play Keighley at Leigh SV on Sunday 27 April ko time tbc. Leigh likely to play Featherstone on Friday 25 April.

That'll do me nicely thank-you-very-much (if that's the case Steve).

Would be good if we could build on the last two cup victories and give the Keighley tie as much pre-match publicity as possible and hopefully maximize bums on seats at LSV. And if successful on the day, we may then get a tie against one of the big boys and make a little bit of dosh for club funds even though it may entail going down to an inevitable 'cricket score'.

Hope thats the case Steve, planned a visit to Cornwall between the Leigh game and this game - travelling back on the Saturday.

p.s. good piece from you, in yesterdays programme, on the clubs position on DR.

It seems that Featherstone do not want to play on the Friday night and have appealed to the RFL who have seemingly intervened and insisted that Leigh v Featherstone is Sunday 3pm.I believe there is a wedding s he duelled for Saturday so that is not an option.Hopefully it has now been sorted.

On our website it says "TBC" etc

Leigh's website - fixtures don't appear to be accessible

Keighley's website says "Sunday 3pm"

Featherstone Rovers' website says "Sunday 3pm"

Maybe it's us and Keighley playing Leigh and Featherstone - 26 playing 26

Beginning to sound a bit like Aussie rules - more than one ref and all that

Hopefully it will all be sorted out quite soon - please?

The official line on this is that we have been told by LSV the stadium owners that we are playing on the Sunday and Leigh who are also only rent the stadium on Friday subsequently Keighley were duly advised. If Leigh have told Featherstone something else then that's up to them but we have NOT been advised of any change.

Leigh Sports Village informed the club on Monday of this week that Swinton would be playing at 3pm on Sunday 27 April, and Leigh would be playing on Friday 25 April. I understand that Leigh were happy with this arrangement but Featherstone objected. As a result of Featherstone's objection the matter is being reviewed by the RFL. As far as we are concerned at Swinton we were told clearly that we were playing on the Sunday, and that information was passed on in good faith to our supporters. What Leigh & Featherstone have subsequently said is obviously beyond our control.

I suppose it won't matter as long as whoever buys those tickets can make the actual time and date that they'll end up playing at. Presumably they'll just have to give refunds to anyone who can't make the actual date of their match.

According to the RFL Challenge Cup fixtures page on their web site the Lions kick off at LSV on 27th April at 2 pm with Leigh starting their game at 3pm.  That's an interesting innovation from the decision makers at Red Hall!! Perhaps they haven't quite made their minds up yet.
