The DR system is an extremely sad indictment of RL's methods of maintaining and developing its player pool

After 16/17 seasons of SL we have contracted by a significant margin

The game (and UK as a nation in general) is fully focused on elitism and sod the lower levels of society including sport

Recent events will prove (as 1 poster has mentioned that there will be a significant meltdown come July/August) and, sad for me to say, Town a right in the firing line - small squad, dubious DR relationship (Wigan are more keen to get players out on loan to other SL clubs, and this will increase as the season goes on) and we are probably skinny regarding the management/leadership of the club now that Dave Bowden has stood down.

Agreed with all bar the last point. What happens to Town will depend on both the review and who gets relegated with them. If all 3 Cumbrian sides go down the club won't lose many players as the others will have to travel out of the county for better money. In terms of Dave, I agree that he was a good figurehead and regularly in the papers but you generally find that the figurehead in most businesses (and even more so it this type of businesses other than the meddlers like Koukash who seem to want to do everything) has the final call on decisions and the majority of the work is done by people underneath. We shouldn't forget that despite this seasons struggles we had our best season for a long while last season and had better quality players than we've had for a long time.

You can see why we would have liked him and his brother Jordan back at Town. Great lads.
