Nothing to do with helping London then seen as they've signed some already ?

Or Bradford . It's relegation ... But not as we know it . Why not let those two start on 20 points as well ?

Lets hope Kevin has sent our scouting team down under to pick up some NRL stars then.

Oh hang on, i was thinking it was a level playing field for all teams for a minute, silly me.

Yet another enormous backward step by the RL yet more young lads pushed to the back of the queue

for another set of ageing Aussies we just never learn anything. Most of our international sports teams

are struggling to compete for exactly that reason.

Is this another "Johnny Foreigner taking good British lads' jobs" thread ?

Why aren't good British lads better players than Johnny Foreigner ?   That's the question - not "positive discrimination".

Because they are not given the time to develop we would much rather top an ageing Aussies pension pot up.

Stop trying to impose your left wing views on my opinions save that for your electoral vote.

Yesterday I mentioned to the chairman that Billy, Cameron and Johnathan were getting to the end of their respective careers and may be able to fit into the Batley system. I did not receive a positive response. Looks like we will not be signing foreigners. By the way I don't work but really benefit from the NHS.

Best man for the job.  If British players don't like it, train harder, get better.

You signed a top British amateur earlier this season who, despite being man of the match in only his second senior appearance against Halifax, has since been cast aside in favour of an absolutely useless American/Tongan who's done nothing all season. The lad in question has been told that he's not being selected as the club needs to ensure that the overseas player in question retains his work permit. That's hardly a great example of a club promoting homegrown talent, is it?

Just how many "ageing Aussies" currently play in the Championship, and how many do you believe there will be next year given this increased flexibility?

A large number, BSJ. Some of them will be absolutely rubbing their hands at the prospect of a final pay day. Their agents will also be more than aware that some clubs are 'well porked up', too - especially given this seasons prize money and the pparachute payments handed to Bradford and London.

I can see a couple of clubs indulging in this practice, notably those that you mention, but I don't believe that clubs such as ours would be foolish enough to follow, do you? We have dabbled in the past with imported players, with very mixed results, but have benefitted from some "home grown" imports too. I know which I would plump for.

Not at all. Dewsbury, as you say, have been burned in the past, and we couldn't hope to match any wage demands even if we wanted to. There'll be more than a few mercenaries knocking about though, that's for sure.

Could be interesting though BSJ with us having an Aussie coach n all.

All this bunkom wont make a jot of difference to batley as we cant compete with the big 4 on average players let alone marquee aussies

superleague one n two have to be unified with teams moving up n down , if you sign 5 aussies on 3 year contracts then go down , you will still have to pay them , even if you can only play 2 , so both leagues have to be the same

Why is it racist  to want English or British talent to grow and essentially save clubs money. Reduce the amount of overseas quotas gradually over probably 5 years, this then gives  clubs the chance to promote from within.  A brilliant example to all clubs at the moment is Wigan, and I am sure there are other clubs trying to achieve what Wigan have done. You know the old saying to know one you must be one.
