Who will be in positions 9-12 at next year's split?

21 posts in this topic

Salford's upturn in form and both Hull clubs having scratchy seasons mean that places 9-12 at next year's split is not a done deal. Wakefield are favourites to be in there but the other 3 places could be anyone from:

Catalans (perennial slow starters)

Castleford (losing key players)

Hull (inconsistent)

Hull KR (inconsistent)

Salford (unknown after another squad reshuffle)

Huddersfield (inconsistent)

Widnes (just holding onto to a play-off place)

I think only Wigan, Saints, Warrington and Leeds will sit comfortably inside the 8 next season. My feeling is that Wakefield, Widnes, Hull KR and Catalans may find themselves in 9-12 and facing the drop into 2x8.

Huddersfield haven't been out of the top right for several years now

We aren't consitently top 4 (but then are Leeds even?) but we are top 6/8

Huddersfield have been rocks and diamonds all year. Next year is only 23 rounds hence why I feel Catalans could be in trouble as they seem to struggle in the first 6 rounds.

Yeah rocks and diamonds but still likely to finish 6th

Wakefield, as always, will move with the goal posts.  It's just something within the spirit of the club.

Hull, Hull KR, Widnes and Salford.

It's gonna be tough from 7-12 is all I can say

What is wrong on Humberside? Seriously

Widnes

one of the hull teams (maybe both in which case salford to finish 7th)

salford

and cas/wakey

in fact that maybe the only game of interest at magic as it will decide 8th, you can see it now, it will be hailed as 'evidence' for years....

SL will be a great and meaningful elite comp again in 2015, let the jeopardy begin

Add to that the uncertainty at London and you may have three current championship teams in the top four for the middle eight

SL bottom four Widnes Wakefield HKR and Cas

We won't be involved so here's hoping for Leeds, Wigan and Saints. Then we can have some of our old derbies back.

Second group of eight.

Trinity, Hull, Hull KR, Widnes

Joining them in the middle 8; Leigh, Halifax, Featherstone and Bradford.

Although I have reservations about the competitiveness I reckon one of the championship teams will have a decent chance in that group.

I'm excited at the prospect of some of the top champ teams having a go at out of form SL teams next year, as the above said somebody will have a real good shot!

Don't think Catalans will be down there. A slow start is usually due to previous year's Intls for which they provide the French team. Their pre season is late and they then start their season not as well prepared as other clubs. This time no Intls for them. If Carney signed they will be competing for the top four rather than bottom four.

Those down there - Wakefield, Hull FC, Widnes, Hull KR.

i think that the next phase of widnes development as a team will see them comfortably top 8

So that's Widnes screwed then. Relegation next year.

They are in eighth though :sclerosis:  and probably would be in with a bit to spare without the cup run
