Raiders forward Sia Soliola has been referred straight to the NRL judiciary for a high tackle on Billy Slater and is one of four players charged from Saturday's Round 20 matches.

Soliola's Canberra teammate Jordan Rapana is facing a one-match ban for a shoulder charge on Melbourne forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona and risks a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully fights the charge at the judiciary.

Meanwhile Titans forward Leivaha Pulu is facing a $1100 fine for tripping Panthers winger Josh Mansour, while Warriors centre Solomone Kata can avoid a suspension if he pleads guilty to a dangerous contact charge.

Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen has signed a one-year contract extension with the club and will play on in 2018.

Gallen put pen to paper on the new one year deal on Friday however not wanting to take the limelight away from teammate Luke Lewis’s 300th game, requested the official announcement be delayed until after the match against Souths.

Parramatta Eels have announced the re-signing of utility Will Smith and outside back Nathan Davis for the 2018 season.

“Will Smith has been a good addition to the team this year after coming back from a serious injury in 2016,” said head coach Brad Arthur.

South Sydney Rabbitohs have provided an update on the injury Sam Burgess suffered during the Rabbitohs 26-12 loss to the Sharks.

Scans have revealed that Burgess has injured his rib cartilage during Friday night’s clash against Cronulla.

Melbourne Storm have taken a big step to securing its playing future with rising stars Brodie Croft, Brandon Smith and Jahrome Hughes as well as Cheyse Blair all re-signing with the Club.

Croft has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, Hughes an additional two while Smith has made a long-term commitment to remain in Melbourne until at least the end of the 2022 season.

The young trio gave Storm fans an exciting glimpse of the future with their eye-catching performances during this year’s Origin period.

“There have been allegations of an incident involving Josh Reynolds at the weekend.

“At this stage the club are investigating the details of these allegations.

The club have informed the Integrity Unit and will be offering no more comment at this stage.”

According to reports this was a case of Josh drinking too much and being asked to leave a hotel bar. After he refused, police were called.

After joining the club this season, Newcastle Knights utility Rory Kostjasyn has been forced to announce his retirement from the game.

Kostjasyn sustained a complex throat injury during a routine pre-season training session in January. He has undergone a number of surgeries to repair the injury, however, his airways have been significantly narrowed.

Newcastle Knights have announced that Connor Watson has signed a three-year contract with the club, commencing in 2018.

Watson made his NRL debut at the Sydney Roosters in 2016 and has played 30 NRL games.

Wakefield Trinity has announced the signing of Newcastle Knights hooker Tyler Randell on a two-year deal.

Randell, 24, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal; the hooker will make the move from the NRL side Newcastle Knights to the Super League for the 2018 season.

Hope if anything it just affects him when exerting himself physically to the extreme, not just in day to day activities.

Actually what I mean to say is I hope he fully recovers over asap now he'sbrought his career to a close.

“This is disappointing news for Clint and the team as he has been a strong contributor so far this season,” said coach Brad Arthur.

“We wish him all the best in his recovery and I am sure he will be back stronger then ever next season.”

“Despite this setback the team is more determined then ever to make a strong finish to the season.”
