Jack Bird off to the Broncos on a 4-year contract starting 2018 worth about $4 millions.

Supposedly, Bennett wants to pair him with Milford in the halves. I have a bad feeling about this. Bird is either a center or a lock.

Just as well with their injury list.

I think Sarginson might be back this week. Greenwood more likely as I think he only had some minor injury but his stats were good enough to go back into the 17.

Speculation in the media:

Quote

The Storm will look to sign former five-eighth Gareth Widdop if their bid to lure Kieran Foran to Melbourne fails.

With Cooper Cronk departing at the end of the season, the Storm are looking for a marquee signing to fill the gap in their halves.

Of course they could just develop the young talent they have!

After NRL put Newcastle Knights up for sale there have apparently been a number of offers being seriously considered. It has been reported that the first in line of these options is Wests Group who have sponsored Knights for many years.

Sam Burgess is free to play for South Sydney and take on Wayne Bennett’s Brisbane Broncos.

But Burgess’ latest penalty — a shoulder charge on Canterbury’s Greg Eastwood — was not enough to rule him out of the Friday night ANZ Stadium blockbuster.

Burgess fronted the NRL judiciary on Tuesday night and risked a two-match suspension for his decent shot on Eastwood during Souths’ Good Friday loss.

The Souths skipper was found not guilty, but only after judiciary panel members took half an hour to reach their verdict.

Some talk of Trent Hodkinson being axed from this weekend's R8 Knights side versus Cowboys. Not clear why.

South Sydney forward George Burgess is facing up to five NRL games on the sidelines through suspension, this time for a shoulder charge.

Burgess has been given a grade-two charge for his 63rd-minute hit on Brisbane's Anthony Milford, in Friday night's controversial one-point loss to the Broncos.

The Englishman can have the suspension reduced to four games if he takes an early guilty plea. But, due to carryover points, he will miss an additional match if he elects to fight the charge at the judiciary and loses.

Regardless, Burgess will miss England's Test with Samoa on May 6 in Campbelltown.

Ironically, Milford could still turn out for the Samoans if he is cleared by Brisbane.

It's the second time Burgess has been charged this year, after a two-week ban for elbowing Newcastle's Mitchell Barnett last month.

Melbourne Storm have strengthened their forward pack for the future with Christian Welch and Felise Kaufusi committing to the Club.

Kaufusi has signed for next season with the option of an additional year while Welch has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal to remain in Melbourne.

David Mead has some huge news on the day he will play his 150th NRL game.

Not only will Mead start the match against the Rabbitohs tonight after Jordan Kahu was withdrawn with a groin issue, he has some big news off the field.

Wests Tigers have announced that winger David Nofoaluma has signed a new, long-term, agreement with the club.

The new deal will see Nofoaluma remain with Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2021 season.
