DavidM
Come on wonky ... Aston getting Sheffield into the top four with a part time squad , Lowes getting Bradford to the brink of SL , Morrison moving dewsbury on again , Veivers pulling town out of the fire ... These pale into insignificance compared to the achievements of Coyle , who has single handedly taken haven from surviving in the final day to , err , surviving on the final day
Keith T
Does anyone know why young Lucock wasn't playing on Sunday then? Was he dropped? Was he injured? Was he on holiday? Was he at a family function? Was he kidnapped over the weekend? Come on someone must know? Why does everything have to be a mystery? I remember when ............................."It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. While the French have had every assistance to survive, the importance of having a flagship in a heartland area like West Cumbria has been conveniently forgotten." - Dave Hadfield - Independent 25th August 1996. I don't understand that logic dkw. I'm talking about last Sunday not this coming Sunday. Derwent
Just heard a quality joke on Twitter. James couple is shortlisted for coach of the year?????? That baffles me. Yep, the nominations are :- Championship Player of the Year: Ryan Brierley (Leigh Centurions), Lee Gaskell (Bradford Bulls), Scott Murrell (Halifax) Championship Young Player of the Year: Jordan Baldwinson (Featherstone Rovers), Joel Farrell (Dewsbury Rams), Thomas Minns (Featherstone Rovers) Championship Coach of the Year: James Coyle (Whitehaven), Richard Marshall (Halifax), Paul Rowley (Leigh Centurions), I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally
dkw
I don't understand that logic dkw. I'm talking about last Sunday not this coming Sunday. If he`s injured for last week then he might still be injured, haven then know that and plan for it. Or he was rested, he plays this week and Haven make plans for that etc. I don't really have a problem with team news to be honest, I don't really understand why so many get hung up on it. PV picks his team to win the game, its his decision, he lives by it and dies by it. I suppose it would be nice if he explained each decision but I`m not sure what it would gain. Terry Mac
Does anyone know why young Lucock wasn't playing on Sunday then? Was he dropped? Was he injured? Was he on holiday? Was he at a family function? Was he kidnapped over the weekend? Come on someone must know? Why does everything have to be a mystery? Case of wanting to play 3 halfbacks Keith. It doesn't work. You need a specialist hooker, and Lucock has never let us down. Which poses the question "are we told to play Doran?"
Keith T
I understand all of that dkw but the young lad played the previous week and is then left out when we didn't have a recognised number 9. It just seems as if he is being mucked about somewhat!!! I remember when ............................."It is impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy for Workington Town, the fall guys this season for the Super League's determination to retain it's European dimension, in the shape of Paris. dkw
Or alternatively he has a knock, was rested and will come back for haven game. It's all speculation, which is what keeps the forum active but isnt necessarily something pv needs to bother himself with. I understand it's frustrating as a fan, especially when rumours do the rounds about why players are missing. But it just doesn't bother me that much, he picks his team, we win or lose. He may or may not justify his selection, and if he does it's not necessarily the whole truth. Many players are dropped/rested/"injured" over a season, but perhaps he should speak more about his use of the younger players. I'd rather he did that after the season, a sort of coaches season review.
ivans82
all joking aside , i have no problem coyle being nominated for coach of the year . they have gone from a team who lost every friendly , couldn t get a team to play barrow , to being more than competitive , and with some shock wins along the way . he has had to beg , borrow , loan any old waif and stray who came his way just to put a team on the park . how he has managed to get that lot to gel together beats me !
