John Rhino
My paper this morning reports the opening ceremony that had 25K people, fireworks, and projected images of Amy Johnson, the blitz and scenes from the city's footballing history. Far be it for any rag to tell the country people actually play Rugby, but does anyone know if our game got a look in? Also are there any plans, either by the city or the clubs to promote the game to visitors?

Both on the big screen at Humber Quays close to the firework display and at the stunning Made In Hull installation in Queen Victoria Square. There's a specific Hull and Hull KR themed installation (down Whitefriargate I think) that we'll be taking in later. "I'm from a fishing family. Do keep us up to date with activities 'Ullman. Especially any Rugby themed ones. We will be making a long overdue pilgrimage sometime in the Spring - both our boys were born there. Ash Hope
Read pretty much all of the nationals this morning. All I can see mentioned is either the fishing industry or violence and alcohol. Konkrete
Up here in the north east there was a news feature on it and they were interviewing some pi ssed up bloke on the street to give an opinion on it. He was dressed head to foot in FC togs, so that wasn't the best impression to the masses from the editor. It was an awfully negative underhanded condescending sneering unworthy report of a northern city presented as a homely grass roots piece of journalism. Batsards! Don't these people realise that Philip Larkin played second row for both clubs? Forever in our shadow, forever on your mind.

stevereed100
The installation featuring Rovers and Hull includes my number plate HU11 KKR but sadly omits HU11 FFC, both available. There is also a live experience of the Rovers roar and Hull abaloo in Zebedee's Yard so that's positive. Plus of course Roger Millward and Rovers v Hull and several other Wembley experience. So City of Culture in with a bang for RL.....ignore the Daily Mail and Sun ###### that is there as click feed!

themainbrace
Maybe rugby league's big moment is still to come this year. Hull FC to win the Grand Final and Hull KR to win the Challenge Cup, could add to Hull's cultural story as well as providing decent odds.
