Graham
Ever so gently spoken Phil Gould reckons there isn't a single player in the NRL worth $1m a season currently. This comes on the back of talk that Tigers are supposedly trying to tie up their 'big four ' with big money. Mitchell Moses though appears to be turning away from Tigers and instead signing for Parra. The figures quoted for them to keep James Tedesco is $4.4m over four seasons. Is he worth that as good as he can be? No I don't think so. The other thing is that with the four players concerned Tigers haven't been winning. Luke Brooks has signed a $550,000 a year contract already, the others being Aaron Woods and James Tedesco who are out of contract at the end of the season, the fourth Moses has announced the parting of the ways or even waves. Strengthening the squad and support players will be key to Tigers improvement but given the salary cap can they afford to pay such an eye boggling amount to one or more individuals? Oh by the way, Gould reckoned Thurston was worth $1m a season 4 years ago but not now. The Australian Rugby League Forum
