L'Equipe

Had a reporter down with Catalans from last Friday and covering the Monday game against Salford.  Six page colour piece in this coming Saturday’s L’Equipe Magazine edition. This exposure is great for the Dragons and the code. This weekly glossy publication a quality in-depth read. The daily sports paper is an institution in France and found in nearly every bar in the country. The paper itself hardly ever gives the game a look in, not even the results. Hope the piece does the game and the Dragons justice. Only time I’ve bought it was four years ago when they did that decent piece on, “La Sale (dirty) Histoire” – the Vichy Story.

That's excellent news and great exposure for the game in France.

almost unbelievable.

their would be more RL in this newspaper if there were a "visible" championship in France.

"Six page colour piece in this coming Saturday’s L’Equipe Magazine edition".

Just another sentence I never thought I'd read...

Brilliant news as others have said.

Is there any chance you can translate some of the article as my French is pretty poor unfortunately! :search:

It is also backed up with a convincing win from Catalans and a healthy crowd.

There is another thread above SL being much better so far - I would say that all aspects of the season so far have been superb, including the green shoots around the French game, with more French players dotted around the leagues and Toulouse. This is a cherry on top.

I meant to ask if hell had actually frozen over like the mystics and statistics say it must!:D

The Toulon rugby coach was at the Catalans  training session today taking notes and filming the training!

Wouldn't be surprised if he tries to sign some of the players.

I totally can see them offering our players contracts at Union. They already want Gigot.

Is it on public or private land? Should have asked him to leave

Was speaking with the staff etc, it's an open public training but it looked like he was there with the blessing of the dragons

Who you reckon would go? Bare in mind a lot of them are from Southern towns where union isn't thriving. Take Casty and Bousquet from Lezignan and Gigot from Avignon.

Tbf rugby union in France usually gets the players when they're young if they do at all/

It's the Catalans stadium John.  Cats hold open training sessions.

He could just be there to learn about how Catalan coach their players, in order to improve himself as a coach in particular facets of the game that RL tends to be better at?

Isn't that Mike Ford, ex of Oldham, Wigan, Cas, S. Queensland, Bramley, Warrington, Leigh, Wakefield etc? It looks like him, but I haven't seen him for a few years.

I thought Toulon had given him the push? Maybe he's looking for a job?

Bit of googling suggests that it's not.

I wasn't sure if they trained at the stadium or not. Many teams don't.

Still I'm suprised they people to film. Maybe I'm over suspicious but that could so easily be abused
