Russian drug bans

5 posts in this topic

Two players banned from the same team in the same match.

I was wondering, if the drug-testing people show up, how many players get tested at that match?

i.e. did they test most of the team (and 2 out of the whole team returned positive results, which is not great)

or

i.e. did they test only two players (and both were positive, very worrying) which might indicate a huge problem within the Russian players in general?

Certainly not a problem just in our game in Russia, they treat it as the norm in all sports, i'd hazard a guess if they tested all the teams involved there would be plenty more

There was a big piece on drugs on East Midlands news last night. All the body builders and even the gym owners were saying if you want to compete at the top level you have to do drugs.

I would think the situation is similar in Russia, once it becomes endemic and there is no social opprobrium it is almost impossible to remove. At least without a huge government effort and resources.

Bodybuilding and fitness are full of it. There's not one top athlete in those sports that is drug free and most of the big guys in the gym aren't either.

And it's not just a bit of drugs it's a lot of them. The list of pros is huge and almost endless.

I'd suggest it is even bigger in Russia (and USA) than it is in Western Europe.

Two from each team were tested as I understand it.
