clifford
I think we owe you one, and a win for us, will hopefully go a long way towards continuing the rivalry in 2018. In what would be a truly northern hemisphere league

excolt
Well its all down to Swinton v Oldham and Hornets v Swinton. The top four now have nothing to play for until the playoffs, so we have to beat Swinton this Sunday!

glemiln
That 30 -24 loss is a huge blow to Hornets chances of avoiding the drop, especially with Swinton's 35-28 win at Rams. Oldham will rightly have enjoyed their victory. Certainly, it was tense enough following via Twitter, etc and 5 tries apiece, but crucially only 2 conversions for us. Appears to have been a poor Hornets first half, a catalogue of errors, especially knock-ons near the line and another leading to Oldham's decisive final try. Our first half yellow card cannot have helped! I hope that Jono Smith recovered and enough to play next week. We could be without Middlehurst and Moores both charged with offences last Thursday and perhaps Galbraith, if today's case comes up. Sort of reflects our season! If the team needs focus - a Hornets win next week is essential: Nightmare scenario: Wins for Swinton & Oldham next week will put them 1pt ahead Hornets (on 16 pts) going into their clash - the winner/loser = 18 /16 (draw = 17 points each ) going into final game. Lose v Eagles and only a win in final game will present one slight chance of our missing the drop. That depending on the rivals' last match results. There is a lot a stake -

mickhornet
What a catastrophic decision it was to fire Paul Crook and play without a kicker.
tandle
hi mick when palfrey played for us as captain for six years he was a fantastic goal kicker. he looked a shadow of his old self to day. but this league is a shambles nobody should go down. Pedro
The missed kicks today were not easy ones but I agree that we need a reliable kicker. I would have kept Paul Crook as we have lost other matches through lack of a kicker. In the first half we made too many mistakes and Oldham seemed more enthusiastic than us. In the second half we were near their line for several sets but didn't seem to have the guile to break them down. I can't see us winning again this season unless there is an improvement. clifford
We too have lost games with no kicker, all I can say is that I didn't expect to win, but win we did, hope you can turn over the cats and we stay up

No relegation - how would that work? Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.
