According to the usually-reliable https://www.rugbyleagueontv.com/

16 of the 31 Matches will be on BBC ONE or BBC TWO.
The other 15 games will be on the BBC Red Button Service.

Agree but every game in this WC could still have had a neutral referee. We managed it in 2013 somehow.

It is much easier getting a neutral ref for a Final if either England or Australia are not in the Final.

England have made that scenario possible for a long time, unfortunately this year it was Henry Perenara as the only neutral.

I would have given him the gig.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

Really good promo, and some interesting hints too. The promo says there will be 14 venues, and the article posted by the OP states that there are at least 30 applicants for venues. This shows that towns/cities should have to give guarantees of investment and marketing to be a host venue.

At a guess, the applicants may be:

1. Wembley, London
2. Olympic Stadium, London
3. Old Trafford, Manchester
4. Etihad Stadium, Manchester
5. Anfield, Liverpool
6. St James' Park, Newcastle
7. Elland Road, Leeds
8. Bramall Lane, Sheffield
9. Ricoh Arena, Coventry
10. KCOM Stadium, Hull
11. DW Stadium, Wigan
12. John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield
13. Headingley, Leeds
14. Langtree Park, St Helens
15. Halliwell Jones, Warrington
16. Keepmoat Stadium, Doncaster
17. The Shay, Halifax
18. Leigh Sports Village, Leigh
19. AJ Bell Stadium, Salford
20. Craven Park, Hull
21. Derwent Park, Workington
22. Memorial Stadium, Bristol
23. Halton Stadium, Widnes
24. New Cas Stadium?

I'm struggling to think of any others that may be interested, considering that the tournament is going to played solely in England?

I reckon in Bristol they'll plump for Ashton Gate unless the Mem is upgraded?

The new York stadium I could see being used for a pool game, in fact someone linked to the club has suggested as much on here re temporary capacity increases.

With the ambition for crowds to reach nearly 1 million I doubt they'd be going for Craven park as well as the KCOM. Headingley and Elland Road is slightly different as Headingley will have a significant capacity on its own for less high profile group games and Elland Rd will be for bigger games.

There's also potential for the new Everton ground to host games. Hopefully it will be a bit more comfortable than Anfield!

We will provide our usual 10s of thousands from down here - consider Wembley and OP pretty much filled...

Cain is a ridiculous choice. I assume he was involved in last year's 4 Nations farce, which wasted 2 great fixtures in a city which won't even print articles about the Bears. But which lined the pockets of the v-----, so they can pay Eastmond. Great joined up thinking. lads. There is a clue in his name.

Two are needed though, so both the on-field ref and video ref can neutrals.

All this early preparation and enthusiasm!

What are we going to have to complain about? As always, they never think of the fans. ;)

I seem to remember seeing something about a minimum capacity for stadiums being quoted. I can't remember where I saw it but if I remember correctly they were talking about 15000 minimum capacity which would rule out some of those stadiums

There needs to be a minimum supportable field size too, so that all venues can have uniform field markings which are the same as those used in Australia, New Zealand and PNG.  The game needs a uniform look to it whenever new fans tune in, just like all the major sports have.

One incredibly frustrating aspect already is that new seperate social media accounts have been created on Twitter and Facebook for RLWC 2021.

The 'Rugby League World Cup' has 225,000 likes on Facebook. RLWC 2021 has just over 400.
RLWC 2017 has 15,000 followers on Twitter, RLWC2021 has 565.

Why would they not just change their name? Further, the RLWC 2017 is a 'verified' account on Twitter whereas the RLWC2021 is not.

These aren't just minor quibbles, and who knows where Facebook/Twitter will be in 4 years time but why would lose all that connected network?

Seriously, you should message them asap ASAP. Would just need a text message to the Aussies and assuming somebody’s not written them down on a fag packet, they’d be good to go.

That probably won't happen to be fair. We will be using premier league soccer grounds most probably. Some of them are quite tight.
