I've set up a Facebook group called 'Workington Town - The Peter Walsh years", for fans to exchange stories, pics and videos of the club in the early to mid-1990s.

Feel free to search for the group and join in. You can add others as well.

Not  on Facebook but good luck with what sounds like a good project. I was very much immersed in the Spider Walsh era and spent some memorable times on the road with fans and players alike. Would love to see those good times return to the club!

Brilliant stuff Rich, some great memories on there already. Nice to see legends like James Pickering and Brad Hepi have joined and are actively posting on it.

Well done on the Facebook  group Richard it's a fantastic read and watch, especially with the likes of Big James, Buck, Walshy etc commenting on many of the posts. Oh if only those brilliant times would roll round again!!!

It's brilliant isn't it,  great to see just how much the players from that era loved being here. Thanks Richard.

Ive loved reading and watching all.the clips it's fantastic,

The thing we can all easily do is share, follow and retweet all these things on social media ,this is such a great idea which stirs the juices, the club need this type of free advertising ,spread the word , if you know people who used to go matches then get them to go again, get them to bring their kids, they may just rekindle that love and the kids may become fans for life and we can all play our part in getting Town back in the higher levels of the game.

Big Jimmy Pickering though, what a player, absolute beast....he was great around the Town too,he often used to come into college and just join in our practical sports lessons with Town fitness guru Mick mcgurn who was years ahead in the sports science field,he ended up getting a great job at Hull city FC.

25 years next year since they won at Old Trafford. Wouldn’t it be great if the club organised a reunion next year and tried to get as many of the lads together as possible. Could make it a big weekend, a sportsman’s dinner in their honour on the Friday, a social event in the Derwent Lounge on the Saturday then the team as guests of honour at the game on the Sunday. Maybe even get some replica tops made commemorating it, like the one the supporters club had made in 2002 to commemorate the 25 years and 50 year anniversaries of the Lancashire Cup and Challenge Cup wins. Those raised a fair bit of money for the club. As well as honouring that great team it would be a good commercial opportunity for the club.

Its been great stuff Richard. Thanks for collating all of this

Good suggestion by Derwent as well. Maybe the Arabs from the Bramley away game could make an appearance over the weekend?

I've still got the classic blue n white V shirt from that time - on the way to an away game at Doncaster we were stopped at a services on the M1. Heard people say the Town team also there. My sister and ex wife at the time went to investigate and they got on the team bus and got all the team to sign it

It took us ages to make all those Arab costumes for everyone, we took over the Waverley function room to make them . Camtex must have wondered where their stock of white fabric had disappeared to.......
