I wish Salford all the best for the future, that board seems to have a nice mix of skills.

Good news and good luck.

It would be nice if they could share the stadium with Swinton.

From Swinton’s website:

LIONS SECURE TRAINING FACILITIES AT AJ BELL STADIUM

Swinton Lions are to train at the AJ Bell Stadium during 2018, the home of city rivals Salford Red Devils. This arrangement will ensure that the Lions’ have access to the best facilities in the area as our preparations continue for what promises to be a tough but exciting season in the Championship.

Swinton players and coaching staff will have access to excellent outdoor training pitch facilities, as well as a well-equipped gym and meeting room.

Operations Director Steve Wild said, “Last season we centred our main training operations over at Fallowfield with Manchester University. Whilst those facilities were excellent they incurred a significant cost, plus it wasn’t the most convenient location for our players, the majority of whom are based on this side of the city.

"We wanted somewhere more local, but which offered the highest standards in training facilities. We are therefore delighted that we have been able to agree excellent terms with the AJ Bell Stadium. To that end we’d very much like to thank Salford City Council, Stadium Event Operations Manager Marcelle Locke, and gym manager Liam Connolly, for all their help in making this arrangement possible.”

Lions’ Head Coach Stuart Littler was also happy with the development. He added, “To have secured such a great training facility for our 2018 training campaign is a massive step forward for our club. The facilities at the AJ Bell will allow us to competently review our performances, as well as greatly enabling the development of our physical and technical activities either in their great gym or on the specialised playing surfaces.

We must also pay thanks to Wigan RLFC for the use of their Central Park facility prior to Christmas. The staff there have been exceptional with us and we greatly appreciate their support. We will also continue our relationship with our friends at Leigh Miners Rangers into 2018, so it’s great to have all our training and analysis requirements nailed down and fully catered for. The pre-season games are coming around fast, so to have the use of exceptional facilities can only assist in our preparations as we strive to develop as a team and as club.”

As a long standing, long suffering fan of the Red Devils, delighted with this. Hope it all works out and we go from strength to strength. I feel we do owe Marwan a debt of gratitude for saving the club from oblivion, but time to move on now.

The outside pitches at the AJ Bell Stadium are community pitches available for anyone to book book for £30 an hour

Gerr: Swinton are free to rent the AJ Bell just as Salford and Sale do.

May I wish them the very best of luck in taking Salford RLFC forward, my concern is that they do not have the cash to fill the gaps when needed, they need the fans to back them through the till and sponsors to do so even more -unless MK is still pulling strings and funding losses

Does anyone have any idea of Marwan's reasons for selling up?  He still seems passionate about the club, still wants to 'sponsor' them and doesn't seem at all angry with the RFL.

Is it possible he wants to buy another RFL affiliated club and can't own 2 at once?  Or has he just had enough?

Not sure he has sold up, the new board should be debt free. I don't know where the money will come from.

I worked with one of the gang of four and he will have the club's interests at the heart of what he does

As a first statement from the not-for-profit board, this confused me

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/42623097

I await, with interest,a comment from somewhere, about the repayment or otherwise,of the debt taken on

post-Wilkinson and the deferred payment(s) re stadium.

I hope all goes well for the club and their supporters but it seems all quiet on the financial matters.

The big question is who funds them from now on.  If MK isn't covering future losses who is?

Marwan didn't cover the losses when he owned the club..the clubs debt has gone from £3m to over £8m while he was in charge!

I think it’s unclear whether he actually put money in and the debt is essentially owed to him, or he’s simply underwritten the debts owed by the club. I note in the accounts it refers to the verbal assurances regarding those.

Whatever the reality it is £8m and that’s worrying in that a further deferment has been agreed in respect of the smaller portion owed to the council.

It would make sense to jointly purchase the stadium with Sale but I suspect they’d be vulnerable to losing any share in the future if they had to raise funds to clear debt.

Who is the debt payable to?  If it is to MK, then he DID cover the losses.  By "cover", we mean "fund". Not the same as "write off".

If it WAS to MK, then do those debts still exist?  And are they repayable?  If they ARE, then firstly how will future losses be funded, and secondly how on earth will the loans be repaid?  But I understand the club has been transferred "debt-free"?  In which case, MK must have written off those loans, not just funded the business - in effect gifted the club megabucks.

If the debt was to someone else, again the same point applies if the club has been transferred "debt-free".

if it has NOT been transferred debt-free, then again how on earth wil the loans be repaid?

Whichever way it is, someone must have been funding the club's losses without expectation of repayment? Who will do so in future?  Or is the club not now expected to make losses?

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wise people so full of doubts.

Bury your memories; bury your friends. Leave it alone for a year or two.  Till the stories grow hazy, and the legends come true.  Then do it again - some things never end.

Guess we'll find out in a few months when the accounts are filed

Oh goodie. Months more speculation then. :(

Could be worse for the long-suffering Salford supporters, I guess? They could be Bradford supporters...

It isntead suggests that there are, and remain, considerable debts that will have to be repaid, including payments under the CVA? Has Koukash underwritten them? Clear as mud!  I'd be concerned if I was a Salford supporter., absent any further or better information.

It's notable that the new directors have formed a new company to own the club "Salford RD Holdings" rather than just taking on the existing company.

I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally
