I notice they've changed the style of the number but surely changing the full name as well as the style is a bit radical.

Don't give us half a story. What are these fonts called?

The new sans-serif typeface should be easier to read from a distance, but looks a little clumsy in the overall design.

Fort Found, really beautiful eh?

And what about that little rugby ball within each number? A thing of beauty.

They dropped the strokeline around the player's name but kept it in the number.

How can we live with this inconsistency!

Seriously, whilst minor, it is good to see the RFL pushing for some brand alignment. SL, Championship, L1 & England all have similar elements, leverage same font type / weight and so on, which actually shows some unity between the products.

Odd one out is the Challenge Cup and Grassroots.

It's been getting there for a while. SL, Championship and L1 have had the same name/number font on their shirts for a few years - since the 8s at least (although without the SL "S" on the number for the lower leagues, obviously). However the logos of the Champ/L1 were never updated alongside Super League's so like you say, good for them to have a consistent look, although I suspect the same sponsor across all leagues helps.
