How to write a novel

Recommended Posts

I am the author of five novels: (One Winter, One Spring, One Summer. One Autumn and Two Seasons). They cover the years between 1962 and 2003 and are inspired by the old saying about work that "They could write a book about this  place. It would be a best seller".

They have a humourous  Lancashire/Yorkshire background, one that includes work, romance, family life and the family tree, old friends, and rugby league. Much of that is based on my own life and times which includes being born in 1939 and growing up in St Helens, living in Halifax while working at Crosrol, as an electrical draughtsman, first at Brunswick Mill and then in Pellon Lane and being a regular attender at Thrum Hall for around seven seasons.

On Thursday 15th February from 6.30, I will be in the new Halifax Central Library talking about how to write a novel based broadly on your own life and times.  They say that there is a novel in everybody. Let me give you some ideas about how to start writing yours.
