Boom Boom is a smart Coach but unlike Bellyache doesn't have the quality squad that Storm have and that's down to the Storms Playing Culture and more finances as Hetherington would agree with and Storms system of play designed to cope with the NRL is a bit different to Leeds who develop theirs to cope with SL.

Just a thought... The trophy already had Storm's name engraved on it, was the game rigged? :spiteful:

Awful attendance for a 'big' match.

A good crowd in an AFL City way before the Season starts and on a Friday Night which doesnt make travelling from elsewhere easy. Doubt there would be too many teams in Australia that would get more than 20k that turned up in Melbourne.

Leeds started well but with no decent props and losing Walker and Ward they lost any very slim chance they had. Realistically it was men against Boys. Storm didnt need to get out of 2nd gear and yet still eased to near 40 Points. Most sides having lost the likes of Cronk, Harris and Mclean would struggle and yet the Storm didnt look any worse than usual. They have great strength in depth as can be seen by the Reserve Grade just losing to the NZ Warriors this morning in NZ.

They could have probably taken the likes of Smith, Slater, Chambers, Jesse Bromwich, Munster, Big Nelson out and used Fringe players like Jacks, Hughes, Oram, Simpson etc and still won. Thats nothing to do with Leeds but how well drilled and Professional Melbourne are. They can lose big names and replace them with Kids or unknowns and theres little change,

First time in Australia for quite a while. Crowds probably would have been bigger in U.K. but the comp has a standing and track record there. Given this was like a stand alone game the 16,000+ crowd I feel is respectable.
