Challenge Cup Third Round

Recommended Posts

Generally, pairings not very favourable to the smaller clubs. The ties at Hunslet Club Parkside and Askam look tasty. Will these two games have to be played at Hunslet RLFC and Barrow RLFC? If so, maybe HCP and Hunslet could arrange a double-header at South Leeds Stadium. Might improve the attendance.

John Kear, king of the Challenge Cup underdogs, now coach of a side hosting a club with a plethora of young Welsh players

who will be keen,in the extreme,to impress the Wales national head coach.

I could do without the 'leveller' of inclement weather - or a glue pot pitch.

Odsal will be the place to be.

At least 3 amateur clubs making it through to round 4 should be interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing a few upsets by the other amateur clubs too!

I think Haven v Skolars will be a proper game. A chance of a giant killing for the Cockneys.

I assume your using the word "Giant" with your tongue firmly in your cheek

Coventry Bears vs Distington will be a result to keep an eye on.

Shame Dave Woods, after three Challenge Cup draws, still hasn't learned (or thought it necessary to learn) how to pronounce Distington.

How do you pronounce it? Has anybody actually corrected him?

The first 't' is silent. Some say Dizzington, others Dissington. Maybe Distingtonians are so used to the name of their village being pronounced incorrectly, they don't worry about it.

What hope have the rest of us got if there’s two “correct” pronunciations ?  😜
