Catalans sign a NRL player

Recommended Posts

The deal with Matty Smith fell through so the club set his eyes on the NRL.

Mitchell Cornish (Roosters) and Trent Hodkinson (Cronulla) are in advanced talks.

They need TWO signings : one forward in second row and one back in the centre.

Well with either Cornish or Hodkinson we've got a new centre with Gigot going back.

Don't need no second row, Garcia and Jullien are OK, Anderson and Perez as covers. Wouldn't mind a big prop though.

Trent Hodkinson was a good player , rep player , years back . Not sure whats happened since then , anonymous in recent times when you see him

Is Sam Tomkins still meant to be signing?

He said on Instagram today that he hasn't decided yet (but implied he was considering it)

He's been ruined by injuries, still has a good brain though

Cornish any good? Hodkinson would be an improvement on what they have now...

Cornish is 25, never quite made it at the NRL level, was at Canberra when they signed Austin and Sezer, went to Parra but didn't play and then went to Roosters... who have had Pearce, Keary, Matterson, Hastings and Watson.

He does not kick goals.

On the other hand, he kicks tremendous bombs.

Hodkinson is 30, a heavy paycheck and a fragile knee.

I'd go with Cornish. Cornish as a kicker/organiser, Langi as a runner, Gigot back at centre.

Hodkinson would be awful. He can barley walk and played reserves for most of last in our Newcastle side. Would be a backwards move.

I’ve seen him for cronulla and at times literally forgot he was on the pitch . Was quite sad seeing how far he’s regressed

I don’t think it will be hodkidson as he has now broke into the Cronulla side and with their lack of half backs looks likely to be needed.... Cornish is a realistic option as he doesn’t seem to be in the roosters plans.... could Robbie farrah be an option ??

Or someone like Shaun Nona who has hoovered up every title but has never been able to break through

I think he's exactly the sort of player the Catalans should be looking for...maybe Cornish falls into this catergory as well.
