Follow Up Statement From Simon & Neil

Recommended Posts

We are overwhelmed with the response which yesterday’s club statement has created.

However, it is of paramount importance that no financial or personal blame be apportioned to GARY FAWCETT.

There is no doubt at all that without Gary Fawcett’s continuous backing and relentless support to date, Keighley Cougars would have been in this position everyday for the past three years.

He has continued to feed the club at a huge financial loss to himself and his family.

Myself & Neil have been held responsible for the club, at the coal face, only for the last 2 months, and the pressure to create income to pay players wages is immense.

Supporters numbers have dwindled over the years, and currently the income from match days and sponsorship does not generate enough revenue to meet the cost of paying players.

As Chairman, Mr Fawcett has always put the club before anything else. Perhaps it is only now that supporters can begin to understand how much Gary has done for the club.

Thank you Gary for all your efforts. You did a bloody long stint under so much pressure.

Could I also add, please would all fans refrain from verbal & written abuse of any person or club.

Please now, let us pull together and save Keighley Cougars and give GARY FAWCETT some credit for what he has done for the club.

We hope for an amicable conclusion in the handover to new investors.
