3 Catalans to the Championship

Recommended Posts

On loan. Utility back Jouffret to Batley. Forward Bartes and wing Gambaro to Barrow.

Jouffret been out on loan to TO last year and earlier to Whitehaven. Bartes regular at St Esteve in Elite1. Gambaro only one listed in the Dragons squad for 2018 but unable to play through long term injury.

It's an interesting trend this and seems to be increasingly common that at this time of year with key qualifiers etc for the Championship/League 1 clubs, that they're increasingly looking to Elite 1 to bolster their squads

You're only going to improve your game playing better opposition. So the more French players and teams crossing the Channel the better. It's obvious, I know. At the turn of the century you had just Jerome Guisset followed by Olivier Elima. Today two professional sides as well as the likes of Fages, Escare, Miloudi, Springer and Navrette. It's a sea change.

Moreover it’s good to see greater links between the two competitions and for English clubs throughout the leagues to be actively looking at these French players

Impressive then. 10 players in total into the Championship from Catalans including Garcia at Sheffield and earlier at Leigh Dezaria, Larroyer and Bergal plus Pelissier now at London. It's  testament to the Dragons project.

Louis Jouffret MOTM for Batley v Swinton with father and Dragons CEO Christophe making the presentation.Elsewhere Ilas Bergal got a try hat trick for Leigh after scoring 4 the week before for Workington. Listened in to some commentry on BBC Radio Cumbria on Barrow's game - some early decent stuff from props Saloty Mendy and Arnaud Bartes before London ran away with it with Eloi Pelissier to the fore.

France have alot of championship level talent. With 2 SL clubs they could hopefully get that nucleas of 50 SL players that would mean they are a threat to the big 3 at international level.

Yes hopefully.

When you just think the choice at full back

Kheirallah - Miloudi - Escare -Gigot

Half backs

Fages - Albert - Robin - Barthau

All should feature in the Super 8s/Qualifiers

A long time since they've had depth like that in those posts
