At the RLEF AGM in Belgrade this week.

Interesting to hear whether it’s just an idea that’s been discussed or part of a long term plan that will be put into place over the next 3-5 years.

I don't know much about this, and am kinda lazy to search.  Would this be a SL rival, or more like football's champions league?

I've not heard anything about this either but why would the European Federation make a rival SL comp?  I think it's more likely to be Club team s from the Balkans or something like that

We have a european super league.

It tells you something about our inward looking nature that we might need another one.

That's why I was wondering if it was champions league-esq!

Wouldn't this be a breach of copyright if it has nothing to do with the current Super League? Is it not referred to as ESL or SLE quite often?

I don't know the ins and outs of the law on this one.

Interested to see what the idea is here, but they definitely need a new name whatever it is.

Well ESL is also the E Sports League (a multi million dollar video game "sports" league)

I assume because this is being discussed by the RLEF that Super League Europe will be aware of it.

I believe that a very rough draft was opened up for discussion.  The concept is that there are some relatively big clubs in small nations that have outgrown their domestic league.  Therefore, there should be the possibility for the best amateur in Europe to compete, so they are not limited to e.g. Serbia, Greece or Germany.

Everything else is in draft and up for discussion.

It's on twitter, where the title says

As part of the RLEF AGM, there has a debate about a European Super League

Someone has replied

Which means what exactly?

That's all that's there. (See below)

It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course.

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Maybe they could have 11 teams from one region of one country and one token side from another (that fans of the other 11 don’t want) and call it Super League Europe.

Yeah you’re right it’s been done.

No, no, no mate.

Don't EVER describe Lancashire and Yorkshire as "one region."

That is opening the 7th seal of the Apocalypse.

2 counties is fine btw.
