PREVIEW | Spiers embracing Whitehaven test

Recommended Posts

Russ Spiers believes the Dons have what it takes to take two points from Whitehaven this weekend.

The Dons travel to Cumbria on the back of five straight wins in Betfred League One, and Spiers wants to extend their good form.

He said: “It was a tough game against London as we expected, we got through it and managed to not get any injuries ahead of the Whitehaven game.

“The games we’ve won are ones we set out to get the job done in, we’ve done that now and have put ourselves in a good position.

“Whitehaven is a tough place to go given the distance we have to travel and the weather conditions aren’t always the best up there.”

With just two points separating the two sides going into the game, and Spiers knows how important it could prove to be.

He added: “We’ve got to win it and we want to keep the pressure on the teams above us, we’ve prepared well and we’re all looking forward to it.

“We’ve reviewed Whitehaven and seen areas where we can get the better of them to make sure we get the win.

“We always focus on ourselves and tick off each game, if we keep winning and teams slip up we can consolidate our position in the play-off places.”
