Germany and Netherlands Prepare for Griffin Cup

Recommended Posts

38-22 to the Netherlands after trailing 16-18 at half time.

Germans rested six or seven of their heritage players, that won in Czech, giving a run to a full side from their domestic competition.

Decent game and the bigger Dutch forwards took control in the second half.

Netherlands 38 (16) Germany 22 (18). Good game on a wide pitch. Germany used just 6 of the team from last week and gave debuts to 17 year old Liam Bons at Hooker and 18 year old Prop Alex Leers and a couple of others. The Dutch also having a couple of Teenagers in the backs. That shows how far both teams have progressed in the past couple of years.Germany Losing 2 forwards in the first 20 to injury and another in the second half saw them fatigue and the Dutch took advantage and put a big score on. There was little between both sides before Germany tired at the end. Both sides should be proud and many positives to look at.

It was announced after the game that both Nations will look to get the Club Champions  of Germany and Netherlands to play each other in future. Its good to see both nations looking to work together.  Can only help the sport develop in both nations.

Obviously the 4 heritage players from last week didnt play for Germany. And all the Germans had played in the BundesLeague in 2018. All the Dutch bar one played in the Dutch League. Shows the valve of a domestic comp.

Really encouraging to hear. Any news on the Belgiums? I hear they’re looking to develop their domestic league again
