West Wales Raiders fielding twelve players

Recommended Posts

Surely the worst pro team in RL history, and potentially in any sport?

Where are all the Welsh juniors that are supposedly signed with this club?

10 players on the pitch at one point due to sin-binnings. Very bittersweet feeling that this very average Keighley team now holds the club record for biggest victory.

According to Keighley’s twitter West Wales only had twelve players available today. Is this true?

That platitude is so tired and meaningless now

Needs to be criteria before entering the league.  That they can guarantee some kind of reserve set up or have evidence they have 30-40 players available.

Enter a team that never had a team just a crazy situation.

Listen to Lionel Hurst comments on the last League 1 Show he made a lot of sense.

They've conceded over a tonne 7 times this season now. Scoreless 8 times. Now they can't field a full team?

How the hell are they still going?!

Amazingly Never seem to have a lack of players when playing the likes of Hemel or the Bears though ......

An absolute embarrassment and whilst I know they seem to be doing *some* good at junior level for anyone not already connected with the game I can't help feeling that they've essentially wrecked rugby league in south Wales.

Is it really that surprising that players are more willing to turn up when playing weaker teams? They're professional in name only.

Playing union mate. It is a summer pastime for these people. Nothing more.

Perhaps its time for a League One South and League One North that are essentially professional setups with an amateur playing base, below the existing League One setup.

I can see the merit in the South one, but it would take support and planning from the RFL. I am not sure they have either the willingness or the competency required.

Surely you've got to give them credit for carrying on through the season with tannings they've been given. How they turn out week in week out is beyond me. When they played us at ours we give them a tanning too but you can't Knock the enthusiasm and gamesmanship they display. Fair play to them.

If they’d made SL 14 maybe added the top 6 from league one to the champ and league one could have been largely a development / expansion league ? With the way it’s gonna be there’ll be many unattractive games for clubs to sell

Time for a rule change. 17 in the squad or forfeit the game with a fine

Simple solution - name 17 registered players even if they are on holiday, playing RU, injured or 57 years old.

Let's talk about Barrow and Featherstone while we're here.

Absolutely. It needs sorting. Fines/forfeit are serious penalties

I'd prefer to deal with the root cause rather than just punishing teams.

It’s been an absolute farce and embarrassment this year , brought scorn on the league and game . Week in week out is totally unacceptable . If you can’t meet even minimum ‘ professional ‘ league standards regularly you’ve no place in it

Their chairman tweeted saying “as a chairman of a club of a club losing every week losing is hard to take but when you have 14 men on a pitch it’s an impossible task.”

If he’s insinuating that Keighley had help from the referee, he’s a buffoon.

I read it as he thinks he's running a union team.

What would be your minimum standards? Naming 17 even if there aren't 17 available ?  Is naming your conditioner allowed? Is it one strike & you are out or 2 or 3?

The solution isn't easy

But they were struggling from early doors weren’t they . Not a rare occurrence late in a hard season . They obviously weren’t set up for what was needed this season , and it’s just been an erosion from there . I wish this new coach well in picking up the pieces and at least getting some kind of stable platform as a start to work from

Seen a couple of comments on Twitter about the referee. I know we all like to bemoan decisions against us but it's pushing it some to put anything on the officials for such a defeat.
