Even if Toulouse were to miraculously win, the chances of being in the MPG are next to nil due with London likely to hammer Halifax.

Salford with their full back returning, a home game and TO traveling at short notice look like they will see off TO.

i want Salford to win for selfish reasons but Toulouse will likely go at them like a bat out of hell so who knows what will happen. Salford have Hastings back though so they should play better as they aren't necessarily safe from the MPG wither so they will be looking to win. great weekend of rugby...all of it outside of SL too lol.

Yeah great weekend of RL - Crosfields .v. Saddleworth Rangers on Saturday and Batley .v. Swinton on Sunday. I will be in work when Salford play Toulouse but I really hope, and expect Salford to end the season on a high. Toulouse won't make it easy for them though.

Maybe someone more intelligent(and less lazy) then me, could keep a running update regarding the games as they go on over the weekend? E.G points difference, points needed etc. Like Salford and Leeds games have finished, London need X ammount of points/points difference to get 4th...that kinda thing?

Yes, in this game Salford would be mathematically safe with a win and a Toulouse win by 55 points or more would guarantee them a place in the MPG. Nothing else can be decided here.

False.

A Salford win would decide that Toronto are guaranteed at worst an away MPG.

No team are theoretically back in SL though Leeds and Salford are in the strongest positions by definition of points in the table and pts difference.

If Toronto win by 32 (or more) then Toronto jump above Leeds, if HKR win by 44 (based on TWP winning by exactly 32) or more they also would jump above Leeds, Salford would only need to win to go above Leeds in that scenario and thus Leeds would be at home in the MPG.

It's as likely to happen as Nigel woods passing up a free lunch at Twikkers but it would be giving Leeds fans the twitchiest of twitchy bottoms knowing they have a do or die game to win against London or Toulouse or be relegated. That would be fun from a neutral's POV.

If Toronto win then HKR need to win by 13 more than TWP winning margin to jump above them (but not necessarily guaranteeing 3rd place.*)

if Toronto lose then HKR can still lose and be above if Toronto lose by 12 or more than HKR do, even if equal on pts diff HKR would grab third by having scored more pts.

*HOWEVER, if TWP & HKR both lose by only a solitary point each AND London AND/OR TO win by 27 and 17 points respectively then Toulouse would go third and be promoted with London at home to TWP with HKR relegated.

In the latter scenario Leeds and Salford would be also back in SL.

This is very likely to be the most exciting sporting competition on the planet currently in terms of possibilities and twitchy bum for fans at the back end of a season, that even the teams at the bottom with no chance of promotion can and will have a huge say in the outcome makes me shake my head that the powers that be are binning this off. it's the most exciting thing to happen to RL in a very long time.

Seeing Leeds in a fight to the death would be bloody marvellous but extremely extremely unlikely, would love to see London go up in 3rd spot and it's not really that much of a stretch. They win by say 20, HKR lose, TWP lose by 8 and TO lose that would happen.

The excitement should be when teams are aiming to win the SL not scrapping at the bottom of a 12 team league, that’s why thankfully its been binned off Rugby League is not strong enough for the 9th and 10th placed teams to potentially get relegated from a 12 team league.

thing is no one gives a ratsass whats happening in the premier competition at the end of the season. SL is absolutely pointless this weekend and shouldn't be televised. Really it should be reg season and the few that qualify for playoffs play in the postseason ad the rest go home. you need to earn the right for extra games and income. That way they would only have meaningful games on at the end of the season. we have a reg season, the GF Semifinals (actual playoffs) and the weird ###### filler 8's for the top comp...not right.

However i do agree this is the most exciting sporting scenario at the moment.

But in that senario we would still more often than not see many teams in SL playing pointless rubbers that have absolutely zero bearing aside from personal pride, that's not enough at the end of a season particularly when players are fatigued and still carrying injuries. Even worse when players might even feign still being injured to avoid having to turn out in a pointless game or simply not being bothered/switched off and unmotivated because actually losing doesn't matter and you've a contract for next year anyway.

We needed to change what happens for the whole of RL but binning off the jeopardy for 4 clubs at the bottom of the top tier isn't one of them. An automatic promotion for one club, maybe even two but still to put the lower placed clubs through the wringer so that games at the back end do matter at both the top and bottom of divisions.

Next season is going to be utterly ###### without the M8s with multiple times more games being meaningless.

unless you have a scenario where a bunch of teams outside the top 5 are close on points and are all fighting to avoid relegation. This year the qualifiers seem an anomaly, could happen any year in any league.

Also playoffs aren't really for promotion and relegation. you could relegate the worst team after the reg season and then do a playoffs at the top for  a winner but that seems odd that you punish some for the regular season and then give others an extra shot.

Bye bye GF in 2021 or hello licencing?
