Toronto and Toulouse kicked out of Challenge Cup 2019

Recommended Posts

I'd have thought they'd have wanted the test against the top clubs?

I suppose on the other hand, with the change of format, they'll now want to concentrate on the league.

That is surprising regards Toronto.

They might be on a strict budget for this year.  If they are getting good home gates they dont need to market as much.

The club might entering a different phase in its history.

£0.75m I think the figure was based on that RLNY promoter. It's really quite farcial if (a) the RFL can't make money on over 50,000 people turning up to an event, and (b) placing the responsibility on the already challenged expansion areas.

'Welcome into the big RFL family, you have to play away and fund your own travel, and if you're good enough you'll have to find £1m just to compete, despite the fact that you have none of the advantages the heartland clubs enjoy'. Ralph Rimmer is Parksider, change my view.

Wow. I honestly couldnt imagine that Ralphs plan B could be so bad.

That is hilariously bad. Like I can understand if people were outraged but its too funny to make me angry. It must have taken many hours to actively think up an idea so bad as to charge clubs because you are too incompetent to sell your final.

Reason Toronto and Toulouse declined

If that is the reason then the RFL are a complete joke. Either have these teams in the structure and treat them properly or don't bother. Certainly do not try to make them pay for your own incompetence.

I am actually disgusted that expansion clubs are being treated like that. It would be great, and deeply embarrassing for the RFL, if Catalans stuck 2 fingers up to the RFL and just pulled out too in solidarity.

This is beyond a disgrace. On so many damn levels.

Whoever made that decisions has made us looks truly like a Mickey mouse organisation run like Arkwrights shop

Roll up, Roll up come watch the challenge cup, we can't sell out the semi's so we will give you two for one, we can't sell the final so we charge the clubs for our inability to sell tickets.

Its a blue chip competition though.

The RFL needs to go in it current form.  The game is going to die if we stick with the current senior management team.

Might as well just have the top 8 SL crowd pullers play. What happens if London, Salford etc make the Final? Absolute joke from the RFL. The game is going in one direction with the decisions being made (or not as the case may be). Maybe if Ralph and Co actually sold the game as something positive and worked with the people at all levels, instead of using his play "B" and coming out as clueless the Cup would be not losing money...

If that's true then there's no excuse, no justification for it whatsoever. It's absolutely disgusting and the sort of thing that should see people resign once it's out in the open.

So Plan A resulted in one of the RFL's fingers getting chopped (a loss), so Ralphy boy is just amputating both arms to make sure that the RFL never lose a finger again. For a 6'5" man Rimmer is impressively far out of his depth.

how many neutral's went this year because it was Catalans and not one of the other 'big' teams, what do the RFL estimate as being the difference between the actual Catalans sales and say if Saints had got there?

Whilst it might have been more if Saints had got there it wouldn't have been a huge difference, and then whatever that is how much net profit would they have made on that differential?

Certainly nowhere near a million quid, not even £1/4M in profit 'lost', that the BBC would be able to sell the TV rights to a Canadian/NA broadcaster, extra interest in the game as a whole, as it has with Catalans winning makes this decision beyond a joke, it's incompetence of the highest order.

These thieves are killing the game, it's been rife since before  Woods, he posed as a leader of the sport and ripped the game off stealing a wage just like the rest of these dinosaur thieves, little short of corruption and fraud. But they protect themselves and and their pay increases as well as huge golden handshakes for being incompetent.

Should blow the HQ up whilst they're all inside it!
