Great initiative

Recommended Posts

Hmm this isn't because I'm a Batley fan but asking Joe public to fund a business project? It's not as if it is free to use by schools etc. unless I am mistaken? I understand asking the Dewsbury supporters, but crowd funding? I don't get it sorry. I'm sure I'll get slated and patronised by BSJ for my obvious stupidity but I am genuinely baffled by this.

Ps wasn't there a recent bequest of money for just such an infrastructure improvement. None of my business but it was the rumour I picked up from this forum I think last year.

i think its great that someone his going to match what you raise by sounds of it all. i would a thought dewsbury would have had the biggest income of a lot a clubs with the bootsales/driving lessons for hgv and bikes, functions/bar, and all weather pitchs use. do these moneys go to the club or have i missed sommat. all the best with it all anyways.

I really don't know the position with the club, but if I was the CEO, and  largely owned the ground, and it's associated business enterprises, I might be inclined not to throw them entirely into the bottomless, money draining pit that is an RL team. More sense to just use it to support the club, and keep the profitable assets away from the creditors should the club go diddies up. I think the idea is a good one, but I can't see me altering my allegiance to squadbuilder and dews faithful.

I think the last sentence of the article clarifies regarding the bequest.

It would be nice if the final side of the ground could be finished.

I know it’s unlikely to be used very much but it would be nice to complete the ground as it should have been when first built some 25? Odd years ago

Fair points PM - where would the eventual assets reside from a crowd-funding initiative?

As far as I understand it the bequest has already been allocated for other projects such as the completion of the training pitches (hence the Gooder Pitches).
