I'll be in again. Really enjoyed last season and learned a few harsh lessons on what not to do :D

I'm looking forward to having a go at this for the first time been doing a lot of NRL research.

I think there are lists available of all the highest-scoring players from last year.

How does this work G? Do we all sign up on some 3rd party site - Fox or NRL - and you monitor our "league?"

Yes, here's what we've done in the past:

One of us (I've done it in past and I think someone else did it previously too I seem to remember) creates a league on the Supercoach site so we get a league code to join.

That joining code is put on here in a thread kept of SC2016.

We encourage as many of us to join as possible by signing to join SC and then when asked about joining leagues enter the TotalRL league by entering the code.

If we do it as soon as they open the new season up we get some weeks to play about with our opening squad and line up with an unlimited number of alterations allowed until Round 1 has kicked off.

Once registered:

* YOU have a $6.5 million salary cap and 25 players to pick.

* FILL each position, from front row to fullback and everything in between - you’ll need four props, six backrowers, seven centre/wings and two each at hooker, halfback, five-eighth and fullback. Remember to save your team as you go.

Summary of 2016 set up:

YOUR TEAM HQ

  • You can edit your entire team list while a round is not in progress. You can also view each player's scoring and performance breakdown, in team Analyser view.
  • With the Rolling Lockout, you can trade and substitute players, name your Captain/Vice Captain and change Reserves selections right through each round, up until the time of the start of their team's actual match. Players are locked into your team only at the time that their real match has started.
  • You need to select your starting line-up of 17 players who will score FULL points, which includes your 13 on-field players (1 Fullback, 4 Wings/Centres, 1 Five-Eighth, 1 Halfback, 3 Second Row Forwards, 1 Front Row Forwards and 1 Hooker) and 4 Reserves from your Substitutes list (from ANY position).
  • Your remaining 8 Substitutes do not add to your overall score.

AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY

  • Your team is awarded one automatic emergency, in the event that any one (or more) of your Starting 17 players don't play in any given team and receive a score of 0 points.
  • The automatic emergency will be the lowest scoring player who receives a score greater than 0 from your Substitutes list, who is not picked as one of your four reserves
  • The Automatic Emergency score will be automatically added to the total points scored to your team.

RESERVES

  • Click on each corresponding Reserves button to name FOUR Reserves from your Substitutes, to complete your starting on-field team of 17 scoring players.
  • Reserves may be changed during each round, up until their respective match has started (at which point, they are locked into your team for that round as a selected Reserve).

SUBSTITUTIONS

  • Click the button to substitute the desired player OUT of your on-field 13. Then, select a highlightedreplacement from the reserves in the matching position, or from any available dual position player/s with matching positions (if available), to complete your substitution.
  • Players may be substituted during each round, up until their respective match has started (at which point, they are locked into your team for that round in their spot at the start of their actual match).
  • DUAL POSITION PLAYER SUBSTITUTIONS - If you have 2 or more players selected in different positions, who were both available for selection in multiple, matching positions (e.g. you have a Front Row who is listed as a Front Row and 2nd Row, and a 2nd Row who is listed as a Front Row and 2nd Row), you're able to switch them around with a simple Substitution. A trade is not required.
  • If you have eligible dual position players, they will highlight when a Substitution button is clicked for a player (as will your eligible bench players in the same position).

TRADES

  • You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team will be locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming round after you joined.
  • You'll then be able to trade up to a maximum of TWO players for each round (and up to 4 players in multi-bye rounds 12, 15 and 18), with a total of 40 trades available for the entire Season. Players may also be traded during each round for other available players, up until their respective match has started (at which point, they are locked into your team for that round).
  • You can also make TWO trades at once (and up to FOUR if available, in multi-bye rounds)
  • It's entirely your decision as to when and how you use your 40 allotted trades.
  • Trades can be reversed right up until the start of the FIRST match of each round. Once the round and Rolling Lockout is under way, you can no longer reverse any trades.
  • DUAL POSITION PLAYER TRADES - You'll now have more flexibility with how you trade, by being able to move dual position players within your team during the trading process - without having to have a 'matching' dual position player in the other position. For example, you may:
    a) elect to trade out a Front Row Forward who is not a dual position player.
b ) If you have a 2nd Row forward who is also a Front Row Forward, you may substitute them into the Front Row Forward spot left vacant by the player you elected to trade out.
    c) You'll now have a vacant 2nd Row Forward spot on your team.
    d) In effect, you are therefore trading out a Front Row Forward for trading in a Second Row Forward.
  • You can make unlimited player moves while trading when a position opens up, to get the perfect trade

CAPTAIN & VICE CAPTAIN

  • Your captain scores double points. You should also select a vice captain, who will score double points ONLYif your captain is a late withdrawal or doesn't play for any reason.[/size]
  • You can change your captain and vice captain as often as you like, prior to the start of the round and during a round and Rolling Lockout, up until the time that your currently selected captain's (or vice captain's) match has started. At this point, your selection is locked in for the round and cannot be changed.

TEAM BYES AND REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES

  • The competition is based around the regular home-and-away season and club matches, and you do notreceive any points from performances in any of the representative games (including tests, city vs country, state of origin, etc).
  • Similarly there are no points scored from players where their team has a bye round.
  • You will need to arrange your starting 17 from your list of 25 and use any trades that you may want to make accordingly.

TEAM & PLAYER VALUE

  • player pricing will also play a part in team selection and trading strategy, and your overall team value.
  • Each player's price will vary based on their most current performance from round to round. A rolling average is used to determine how a player's value changes and they must have played at least 3 games in order for their value to increase or decrease.
  • Your team value is determined based on the overall value of your selected players, plus any leftover amount in your salary cap.

Welcome back pals from previous season(s)
Welcometo Leslie who I believe is new to us - apols if I'm wrong.

I'm Graham - I live in Yorkshire. My team is called Melbourne Rovers as I'm a follower of Melbourne Storm and my local rugby league club Featherstone Rovers.
I've kept the same team name this season - one season I did call the team Featherstone Storm - how impetuous is that?!!!

I dedicate the efforts of me and my team this season to the memory of two good friends of mine and of this forum - George Fairclough (Bourbon Rat; Melbourne, Australia) and Richard Glover (Kiwityke; Auckland New Zealand) both of who passed away in the off season and both who contributed a lot to the game
George was a passionate Storm fan from the day the club started together with his home town team of Wigan Warriors. Richard was a keen NZ Warriors fan and a lifelong supporter of Batley Bulldogs.
Feel free to introduce yourselves...
