  1. I think that's also because doing 77 on the A1 isn't actually that dangerous (assuming it was a dual carriageway) providing you leave enough distance, but most people don't. Accidents are far more likely on low speed limit urban roads than they are on dual carriageways and the impact of speeding on accidents is massive on those urban roads, plus you're more likely to encounter a vulnerable road use (pedestrian/cyclist).
  2. The train station of Stratford is the same station as Stratford tube (used to go through there every day). They may well have assumed that you were confused thinking Stratford train station is different to the tube rather than being after Stratford International. As I left there was a big illuminated sign saying Stratford right, Stratford International (via shopping centre) left which seemed pretty clear to me. Queue was quick enough too and if you end up at one you can always walk past the shops through the shopping centre to the other (via Tap East if you so wish).
  3. So it may well me some jumped up busybody and an isolated incident rather than a co-ordinated plan. I certainly hope so.
  4. What does the RFL President do? Is it a ceremonial or executive role?
  5. I know, it's a shambles and a farce. They shouldn't be allowed to think commercially. To be fair though I don't think you could that honestly claim that any of our boys aren't there on merit. They were all in the squad last year (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/18341065, contrary to the article Mick Monas isn't there for the first time). Tongue was in cheek with my earlier comment by the way.
  6. So that's every Wire overseas player. Exiles may have more "home" support than England...
  7. I was away at the weekend and haven't watched all the games yet, saw the replay of the incident and it was obviously a shocking error but haven't seen the whole FC-KR game yet so haven't seen it "as live" so maybe some of the momentousness didn't come home. It was more the summing up of the day they had on both evenings after Saints-Wire and Leeds-Wigan and it seemed to be the only thing that was emphasised so for someone dipping into rugby league it makes the officiating sound a bit amateur, not a way to attract new fans. Also there was Stevo moaning about all the technology offered and how it should be used on Saturday evening when there was no technological issue. When a man is that far offside at the kick you only need the most basic of replays to be able to see it. If you're going to have a user error where the video ref misses the blindingly obvious there ain't a lot you can do about it. You just have to have a reminder with all the officials afterwards and hope it doesn't happen again.
  8. I think they were right to mention it a few times, but it did seem to come up every couple of minutes to try to back up the flawed argument they were making that time about an apparent referee mistake when generally the on-field referees were calling it right. The idea of using the error of a video ref who isn't refereeing on the pitch any longer to try to evidence that an on-field ref had made a mistake was disingenuous.
  9. Maybe we should bring back promotion and relegation for the refs (I'll put my spoon away). On the incident itself though, Ganson got it wrong. People make mistakes. Yeah it was a bad one but not a lot can be done about it now and I felt the Sky team going on about it was pretty unprofessional as was Hudgell's statement.
  10. I have to say when I saw this I started to panic, then re-read OP and clamed down.
