England Women RL - Disgraceful if true?

Recommended Posts

Apologies, shamelessly taken from another forum. This can't possibly be true can it? If it is it would be a sackable offence for those responsible? I can't believe this could actually happen.

OP: Earlier this year, the RFL agreed June 12th for an England Ladies game v France. The French subsequently booked 35 flights with Ryanair shortly after the date was confirmed.

Somehow, Red Hall has forgotten about game, despite the date being published in the women's handbook. They have failed to book a venue or even hold trials for players.

As a result, the French have had to cancel their flights and bill Red Hall for their expenses. How on earth can this happen within a professional governing body?

Wouldn't be a total surprise if true.  Too few people trying to do to many things.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Really wouldn't surprise me if this was true the RFL attitude towards the female game is laughable. It has pretty much been left to run it's self for many years

The women's game has missed it's opportunity to compete with rugby union and is probably going to be overtaken in the next 2-3 years in numbers of participants by American Football, if it hasn't already.

And the Doc thinks there's narrow minded thinking in SL  :sarcastic:

"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."

"The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."

I just look at the way Sky has jumped on board with Women's sport and feel we have missed the boat big time. Look at how they are promoting Netball and Women's Cricket. A women's SL could have been knocked together very quickly and, played as curtain raisers to SL games, could well have been televised by SKY.

As for this incident with the England v France women's international. The silence is deafening.

They had opportunities to establish a strong competition while RU was at a weak point around 6 years ago. From my own experience it is weak leadership from the RFL which has led to a situation where the successful teams (in the womens game) are the ones who make and influence decisions which serve their own interests rather than that of the game as a whole.

Somehow sounds familiar .............

"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."

"The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."

Where did they book flights to if they hadn't even decided on a venue?

I sincerely hope it isn't true, but I wouldn't rule it out I suppose.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I would imagine any northern airport would have covered all bases to be fair.

The Aus v NZ women's international was considered by a lot of people who saw all of them to be the best game of the series (Men, U19, Women)

Women's cricket and soccer in particular are making massive strides in terms of funding, coverage and playing standards.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

And how disappointing that we can't include English RL in that statement

"Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."
