Hunslet Parkside Div 2 Champs

Recommended Posts

Back to back promotions is now confirmed for the 'Old Boys'.

Saturday's game v Dewsbury Celtic was a very one sided affair and in truth not great to watch, but that isn't what the day was about in any case.

Aside from a blip against Thornhill and well drilled Blackbrook side, the boys have really swept all before them this year and that's not meant with any disrespect to the other sides in the league but more of an indication of the level these lads are playing at week in week out.

Celebrations were reasonably muted as the boys know there's a huge game midweek in the CC trophy semi V Milford. I'm sure if they can win that game and have a final v Mayfield (congratulations to them by the way!) to look forward to, then this weekend's trip to Wembley will be messy for many of them.

Hunslet Warriors, we're coming for you! ;-)

4/1 at beginning of season on skybet was throwing money away, thanks for the easy money

Plus 40/1 for the Conference Challenge trophy a few days before they played Leigh Miners   :O  :danced:

I can certainly see why Askam were tipped to finish high up, although based on current form I can't see passed Blackbrook been the ones to join Hunslet in Div 1 next year.

Definiely went pretty well last year plus added a couple of ex pros for this. Big prop comes to mind someone said he was at Barrow for years made a massive difference when we played them up there, and Tom Hopkins in the backrow is a very dangerous line runner. To be fair though I couldnt see past yourselves. I think the play offs will be intersting if we can get in there, it will be a bit of a lottery

Yes, I definitely agree about Tom Hopkins - when we went up the other week he was their MOM by a mile.

I think the play-offs will be very tight for all concerned in that league. East's can beat anyone on their day but struggled recently, Askam are probably the best side I've seen overall, Saddleworth seem to have hit some form again and then there's you guys who've been there or there abouts all year. Just checked who Thornhill have left to play and would think they'll make a late charge as well if anyone else slips up.

My reason however for tipping Blackbrook, is that they seem like a completely different side from the one earlier in the season - think they've won their last 9 games and dare say they'd have challenged us if they'd started the season like that. So with all that in mind I just think they'll be too strong in the play-offs.

Well done hunslet, might be worth a few quid next season for a 3rd straight promotion the way things are looking.

Yeah definitely - hopefully put us out at 12's or 14's, worth £20 of anyones money at that price I'd suggest.

Guess the odds will heavily depend on who comes down from Prem to an extent but I'd still be confident Hunslet will win the league.

No, I think the squad is pretty settled now so I doubt anyone else will come in next season.

They've done remarkable this season to be honest, winning that league as easily as they did, considering they've had no recognised head coach since Paul McShane stepped aside back in May - so that will need addressing in the coming months.

Captain has been out since since about June so he'll be big for them when he returns next season as well.
