From a purely selfish point of view I'd like a Salford win as this would potentially open the door for Danny Addy and Mitch Clark to stay at Odsal.  However, from a SL point of view it really needs to be Salford to be relegated over Rovers.  Leigh replacing HKR doesn't do much for SL and if anything makes it a little weaker, it would also increase the cluster of clubs in the NW.  Leigh replacing Salford doesn't really add anything either, although they've a few more fans at the moment, and the NW numbers would remain unchanged.  But you'd have to fear for what the future held for the Red Devils if they do go down.  We'd also retain the Hull derby in that scenario I suppose.  Hard to call for lots of reasons.

It'll be a car crash game for sure, and fans of both clubs have my sympathy for the 80 minutes they're about to go through.  I can tell you, win or lose, it's horrible until it's over.  As I said last year, even though we lost, I was totally relieved when the hooter sounded.

Forever in our shadow, forever on your mind.

Dragging it off topic slightly, but I think Addy needs to go should Hull KR win or lose on Saturday. Bloke's tried his heard out for us in many a tough circumstance but I think he desperately needs a change of scenery to give his career a bit of a kick start.

I think Hull KR will edge this one, but it's not a normal game by any means. The outcry from some of the KR players and Hudgell saying something along the lines of not considering life in the Championship is the sort of thing I'd be pinning on the Salford dressing room wall.

In some ways a game like this is no different to the old NFP grand final. Only one team goes up to SL and the other remains consigned to the second div. In fact the loser knows they have a good chance to bounce back as they will prob be playing the likes of Wakey, Widnes, us, Cas etc

Not sure I'm bothered about Addy, but I'd be happy to see Mitch Clark stay

As for the game it looks like a 'too close to call' kinda game, probably decided by the bounce of a ball or - more likely - a contentious decision by the Video Ref.

I'll take HKR to edge it, based on little more than home advantage and a noisy set of fans. But it would be no great shock to see it go the other way

As someone else said, having gone through it last year, my sympathy is with the fans. It's a horrible experience.

Salford to start badly, go 3 score behind and not recover.

I have been convinced since the 2nd game in that Salford would be the team to go down. Nothing I have seen in subsequent games gives me any hope.

The players have been negotiating contracts elsewhere for weeks (probably in Leigh). No mental strength in the team

10 point game in the end.

With Sheens gone maybe they could draft you in for the pre-game, 'Fire them up' speech?

On a serious note I have a funny feeling you might be surprised. Regardless of next year it would be hard for any player not to give 100% in that game and Salford have more ability in the 17 IMO.

Salford also have 1400 travelling fans who should make some noise that is multiplied as it echoes of the far end of the West Stand. Always sounds as if the away fans are 100 metres from where they sit. Where have they all come from?

Rovers are the "franchise" that Super League needs with THE Derby as the jewel in the RL crown but it's an even game this weekend.

Will be giving my all RRTR.

A bit like when Hull FC visit then mate?, only they're 100 metres from the pitch.

It rests on which Salford team turns up. The nervous, dispirited, disjointed outfit with low confidence and desire who constantly knock on.

Or the team who on paper should be able to take control of the game.

Never hear Hull FC singing until they have won, then notice they are still in the ground. Otherwise they join their fellow boycotters and disappear quick.

Still if we lose tomorrow we don't need to offer the hand of friendship!
