Crucial Win, but too close for comfort.

Well done Hornets with the 38-30 win, seemingly against very firm Thunder resistance and a penalty count against starving us of possession.  70 points against in two games - would indicate something that needs attention for the final phase and playoffs.

However, third now with York's win/ slightly better points difference, but importantly 3 points ahead of Keighley/Donny, putting us in a great position for top 3 spot.

Next weekend Donny has toughest @ Skolars, but afterwards it's York @ Toulouse, us v Keighley; Donny v Hemel; then us v Donny / Keighley v York.  Look forward to details of today including Maneely's debut. Another key signing rumoured?

As somebody has just said on another thread,a win is a win and a good win at that,Newcastle away never easy.

Next week is a good chance to play attacking footy, rack up a lot of points to keep York, who have an equally "easy" game,at bay.

With Toulouse flogging Keighley it`s pretty much a given that they`ll walk away with it now,so second has to be paramount for Hornets, let`s see if we`re good enough.

Newcastle took Toulouse to within ten points last week, same with York the week before. They've got the backing of a millionaire Rugby *nion club owner and half a dozen Aussies in their side. They were in front twice AND YET we still went up there and beat them in their own back yard. It's testimony to the work ethic in this side that Killer's team can dig deep and find ways to win. I have absolutely no complaints about the game (which was a tense affair) or the result (which was much needed after the York stutter). 70 points against in two games is less of an issue of you win 'em 36-35. And I'll take that.

Our coach has been "inspirational" at key moments this season and no doubt will inspire improvement of the issue to help further success to Super 8 and through play-offs.

Certainly, a good and crucial win at Thunder setting up the potential for a top 3/4 slot. The excellent new signing should bolster the team and perhaps he will get game time at Hemel to help bed him in for the two big home games.

Spot on there Hornetto, yesterday was a really crucial game for Thunder's own hopes of making that top 8. Thunder have again gone for it this season and I wouldn't be surprised one bit if there budget dwarfs ours. They are also hitting form and ran Toulouse close recently so let not underestimate this win.

I have seen phases in a few games this season when the previous team under Tol would have either capitulated or just not had the stomach to dig in and fight back, but there is defo something different about the side this year, and let be honest we have only been really poor in one game so far (York away)

Looking at how Toulouse are going just lately the top spot looks all but sealed, so its just a matter of us staying close enough and timing our run into the play-offs / stupid 8's or what ever they are called these days so that we hit peak form at the business end of the season.

God win yesterday against tricky opposition and todays news of the signing of Josh Crowley can only enhance what we already have.

Keep going lads!
