Poor signing !

He didn't even look good with Reynolds as his HB partner so can't see him controlling the game for them without a class 6 along side.

You could have said that about Dobson at the Raiders. He was going nowhere when he came over here and couldn't get near the starting line-up.

So Keating, Weyman and Costigan all going to Hull KR. Good to see their 'Australian-Only' policy continuing. Next year will be their 8th season in super League, and they still have done no junior development and continue to rely 100% on b-grade Aussie imports.

I watched the Doggies a lot last year and Keating was very much the weak link in that team.

Reynolds did most of the creating of plays and you only saw Keating on the last tackle to put in a long kick.

You could say that about Widdop in 2011/2012. It didn't stop St George forking our A$4-500k for him next year.

Agreed. Next year is a big year for Widdop, he needs to come out the shadows of Cronk, Smith and Slater and show what he can do himself. Will be interesting to watch.

I watched a fair bit of the Bulldogs last year too and have to agree with Saint Toppy, he looked quite ordinary. He never stood out, didnt seem to offer much, and subsequently was dropped this year for Hodkinson.

Looks average, but the leagues have different styles and sometimes what looks average in one looks great in the other! Time will tell.

Over and Over again, you must really hate the Rampant Robins. Rovers have not increased their overseas roster and will still be working within the quota limits and salary cap. The team that beat Leeds last week had a good local and young content on the teamsheet.

Remember we are losing Withers, OHara, Paea,Patterson and Dobson for 2014 and have sold Scott Taylor and Richie Beaumont as evidence of thge youth development over the last 12 months with Cox, Salter, Green, Hepi amongst those breaking into the side.

But then you know that but have this obsession...bordering on bullying...to do Rovers down as the new kid on the block.

Do no other SL teams recruit overseas players...funny cos virtually every post match interview seems to contain Aussie accents.

Good signing. Decent top flight experience, grand finalist. Andrew Johns thinks highly of him as well.

Goldcaster, you're boring, pack it in.

On the subject of Widdop, he deserves more credit for his Storm performances than some are giving him. He's never been in the shadow of the big three in my opinion. When Slater was out for about 5/6 weeks last season, Widdop went to full back and they lost 5/6 games. He has been an important player for Melbourne.

On Widdop, this is why he had to move. Regardless of how he performs, at Melbourne the big three take all the attention so he is in the shadows a bit. Thats not to say he hasnt performed well. But at St George he will be far more prominent.

Goldcoaster just likes to wind everyone up I feel. He surely must be if he wants everyone to think Costigan is Australian!

Rovers have 13 Hull born players in the first team squad the highest number of local players of any team in Super League and didn't they do well against Leeds.

The year on year reduction in overseas players kicks on at a pace with 6 overseas departures and only 3 signings for 2014.

I'm sure he'd love us to replace Dobson with a kid from the U19's but even Wigan needed to pay a big transfer fee to sign Blake Green from us such is the dearth of quality British half backs.

Cosigan is Australian- played for Qld.

Blake Green is a reserve grader. If Wigan paid more than 50p for him, they've been ripped off.

If Hull KR fans want to shake the tag of being a retirement home for reserve grade Ausssies, put pressure on your club and demand the club recruits more British players. Hull KR will have a better chance of winning trophies than they do now.

I don't dislike Hull KR, just their Australian-only recruitment policy. It's doing nothing for the club or British Rugby League

Neville Costigan was born in Rabaul Papua New Guinea and has played international RL for just one country , Papua New Guinea. As everyone knows a holiday on the great barrier reef and you are eligible for Queensland!

Blake Green was rubbished as another Hull KR rubbish overseas signing, 2 years later Wigan paid a 6 figure transfer fee and has now won a cup winners medal as has Scott Taylor a Hull KR product who Wigan also paid a big transfer fee for. We would have loved to have kept him but good luck to Scott now a HKR product challenge cup winner.

Rovers despite not being the richest of clubs have paid transfer fees for English players Greg Eden and Adam Walker who have been outstanding and played regular first team which they would not have done otherwise. Liam Watts rejected at age 16 by Castleford was rescued from the scrapheap by Rovers and gained England Knights honours before moving to Hull FC again for a transfer fee.St Helens have now signed another HKR product Rich Beaumont who couldn't quite make first team at Rovers.

Craig Hall a local talent not wanted by Hull FC signed by Rovers and done well. Alex Brown signed from lower league by Rovers and proved himself a worthy SL player. Josh Hodgson signed as a young kid from Hull FC who really should have kept hold.now a first team regular and England Knights player.

Local youngsters Jordan Cox, Liam Salter (MoM v Leeds) James Green, Aaaron Ollett and Sonny Essolment playing important roles all making their debut in the last 2 seasons and out of area kids like Tyla Hepi & George Griffin playing big roles for Rovers this year.

The fact is that you know sweet FA about Rovers. The relatively small overseas contingent at HKR is very important because Rovers make very good overseas signings they are key players.

Hull FC this year have an all Australian half back pairing, an Australian ex Hull KR full back, an Australian ex Hull KR second row forward and a soon to be retired Australian prop.

Next year they are recruiting another ex Hull KR foreigner. If that floats their boat no problem they are quite entitled but this anti Hull KR nonsense of yours just doesn't bear close examination.

Costigan was born in PNG and moved to Australia when he was a boy.

He has played for QLD as all players can if they played their first grade games in QLD and can qualify as an Australian citizen to represent Australia.

No different than  Lote Tuqiri,  Petero Civoniceva or Akuila Uate.

While I accept they have reduced their reliance on imports from about 12 a couple of years ago, to the present level. However they still have far too many and have consistently had the largest number of imports in the league since they entered in 2007, including bending every rule available to ensure they have the maximum number of imports they can (Willie Masons Tongan passport?).

It's not a good look when they seem to be the only club still bringing over multiple numbers of imports every year. You guys keep defending them too, which is why you open ourselves up for criticism. I want to see a competitive and winning England team as the ultimate goal. We cant achieve that if all clubs are like Hull KR as it would mean England wouldn't be able to scratch a team together

Owen, Shenton,Walker, Clark, Huby, Milner, Massey, Holmes, Thompson, Johnston, Fleming, Boyle,Clare, Martin

That makes 14

Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

So you will no longer mis claim Aussie only policy....progress.

Now we have too many....are we breaking the quota? Will we be the only club with that number or more next season? We seem to keep losing our Aussie finds to other SL teams which doesn't help.

We have enough players to help England scratch a team together but what chance do they have with McNamara selecting the Brylcreem boys?

Do you not accept that the quota limit allows clubs to bring key players in who can help the local players to improve, the imports have improved the ability of England to compete without them we would have stagnated.

Perhaps Englands lack of progress has more to do with poor management and youth development than Hull KRs desire to progress from championship rugby to beat the top teams regularly....now achieved with the exception of that wonderful Wigan team.

Do you mean Dan Fleming? I wouldnt class him as a local as he is from Halifax and came up the junior ranks from my old club Greetland. Local I would class as local service area or district. Thats not knocking the way Cas have brought through some quality local lads from the Cas area
