  1. Nice one. Well done the lasses!
  2. The old Jammers have given themselves a fighting chance with that battling performance. I think Keighley have the toughest job away at London, I certainly don't envy them. I hope we put in a good strong performance against York today. With the pressure off there's no reason why not.
  3. Great post, and it's crystal clear! FWIW, I think Toulouse will beat Haven. I cannot see Keighley getting anywhere near London. Halifax at home should have too much for Swinton. The likelihood of all three winning and sending us down is remote. But we have put ourselves in this position, and if we cannot beat an already relegated side we deserve no favours really. I suppose the relegation spot comes down to who loses by the most next week. With no great confidence, I'm going to predict that it will be Keighley. One thing is for certain: we won't be beating York.
  4. Perfectly possible of course, but they will have to massively improve on today's disappointing showing. I expected more from a side desperate to avoid the drop. Still, if the jam eaters do win, we definitely stay up. After today, I am far more confident that we will win the last two anyway.
  5. Much better game management this week and a well deserved win. Swinton didn't offer a lot, but that was due to a much improved and disciplined defence. I'd like to think we've done enough to stay up, but we need to make sure at Newcastle next week.
  6. I'm not really sure that it is a question of money. Sammut will certainly be on more than Jackson at any rate. Morty's point, as I read it, is that Sammut has just not performed this year at all for whatever reason. Personifies the team as a whole really.
  7. Oh absolutely. Nothing against Keighley at all, and they won the game fair and square and really deserve to stay up more than we do. It's that simple. On paper, we should be doing a lot better and this is where my frustration and that of most Barrow fans comes from. And I would certainly have accepted being thrashed 100 nil by Fev and Toulouse if we could have nicked points from the other games such as Swinton away, Haven at home and the daft draw with Newcastle. Had some great visits to Lawkholme Lane over the years and it would be great if we both stay up. I think we will lose to Swinton and then it would come down to whether we can beat Newcastle away. I really doubt we can manage even that at the moment. My hope is that Haven will not win another game, we somehow blag something and manage to scrape enough together to stay up. Good luck over the last few games anyway.
  8. I was too angry to comment last night, but I have calmed down a bit this morning. Another utterly abject performance, especially after having a 10 point lead at half time. Keighley are a poor side and have been on the receiving end of some total thrashings this year. If we cannot put sides like this away, then we really don't deserve to stay up. The suggestion that we can make it all go away by beating Swinton is laughable. They ran York close yesterday and have repeatedly shown the sort of spirit and determination that we seem either unable or unwilling to match. This will be another very close game and I am certainly not confident of the victory we need. I have a horrible feeling that Swinton will just want it more. I really hope I am wrong.

Fully agree. Performances like this underline the fact that we have great potential. The table does not lie though and we have simply not been good enough at key moments in so many games. I feel much happier after today mind you, especially as Keighley, Swinton and Newcastle all lost.
  10. A good battling performance from Barrow. That made me feel a bit better about life. A pity that Haven seemed to fall apart in the second half after a good start against the Bulls. Hopefully they can pull through this and we will have some cracking derbies to look forward to next year.
  11. If the Kiwi girls handle the occasion, get off to a good error free start and build into the game, they could be well in with a shout. They were very composed, efficient and occasionally inspired against a spirited England the other night. Australia should be clear favourites though and I'd back them to win by 12. I hope it's a great game.
  12. Yes. For me it started with Luai's interview after being deservedly awarded MoTM after the semi. Totally classless. Compare that with Martin's after the Aussie win over New Zealand. He was gracious to the defeated and spoke with a great sense of empathy. I hope Oz nil 'em. Not that I'll be watching mind. Fell running takes priority these days unless England or Barrow are playing.
  13. You've completely missed UP's post I would suggest. There ARE people who virtue signal constantly and are attracted like moths to the flame around issues such as women's sport in general. My daughter loves Rugby League and watches it avidly. We go to games together and discuss them passionately afterwards. Never once has she expressed a desire to play the game. Neither did her rugby league fanatic of a grandmother either. Given their physiques I would never have encouraged them to venture out onto the pitch. If my daughter does want to give it a go, I would not stand in her way. I might advise that a 45 kg girl might find the going tough. Any problem with that?
