  1. I'm 49 years old, ,I have seen many things in rugby league, the old first and second division, licencing, middle 8's etc. It always seems as though we are at least WILLING to try new concepts to help the games growth, I don't think any of us can bemoan that . Part of the problem is ,for me, not implementing things long term. Too many things have been implemented in a short space of time as a short term fix. IMG'S proposals raise the bar for every club and gives everybody a clear insight as to what they need to achieve. If we really want rugby league to continue it's legacy after we are all dead and buried then we have have to act now. Expansion is the way forward and for once I actually believe that this could be acheived with IMG'S proposals, albeit it may take time.
  2. After reading all the posts about our ahem "rebrand" One thing that strikes me is that the public opinion about all this is we think it is naff? Granted amongst the myriad of graphic designers that dwell on these pages there are certain people that don't like Leigh and are overjoyed by this spectacular leopard love in by Derek, however, their point is still valid, it is essentially ######. Had Derek and co bothered to gauge the fans reaction before inflicting his love for leopards amongst the general public, something good may have come out of this, but it didn't and it won't. And i'm not even a graphic designer!
  3. Oh we are still here Damien, Just a little lost for words.........!
  4. my mum, aged 82. Proud Leigh supporter, season ticket holder for god only knows how many years, the woman that took me to my first match and made me a knitted scarf for the event( Leigh versus Australia). She also founded and became chair-woman of the ladies branch of the Leigh board in the late 60's?. I have a fabulous photo of her holding the challenge cup in 1971 with a wonderful smile on her face. She was also a non contributor on this forum, a lurker if you will, under the name of anne moores, because, well, thats her name. I will miss her, goodnight mum.x
  5. we should have signed someone who won't miss ten attempts at goal, thats pathetic
  6. As a Leigh fan, I am quite envious of Fev this year. The team they have, the fervent fans, the direction they are going in. They have been building up to this for some years now and have perhaps let other teams surpass them, but in doing so this seems to be now working in their favour, I for one would not be upset if they gained promotion to super league, The downside being that along with the likes of fax, batley and of course leigh, a great championship fixture would be missed.
  7. Do you reckon she will go on to sign for Leigh when she nears retirement??
  8. Had a fall at work just before 10.a.m this morning. Fat story skinny, I have 2 broken ribs. The pain is something else, has anybody else endured this and if so, any tips would be fantastic, many thanks.
  9. Our shirts sponsor this year is from a bricklaying company. The lad (3rd from left) is a local young business man who is quite fanatical about Leigh and it is always good to see someone who has not only done well for himself, but is prepared to give a bit back to the local community. Granted it raises his companies profile, but he really does not need the publicity.
  10. Don't know if this has been mentioned before, so apologies in advance. Just finished watching The Queens gambit on netflix, wonderful story, who knew chess could be so much fun! Great storyline, the acting is very good, give it a whirl.
