  1. 1976 Challenge Cup Quarter Final Fev v Leeds at POR. Fev won at a canter by 33-7 and it was by far the best rugby I've seen and against a decent Leeds team at that.
  2. Fev of the Championship beat Cas of SL in 2012 and very nearly beat Wigan in the round after, Wigan scoring a very late try to clinch the win.
  3. You said it was because Fev hadn't paid the players that Fev didn't get promotion . There is absolutely no evidence of that. I believe that the club has come out and said that all players last season were paid their salaries on time.
  4. You're correct no model is perfect, but when promotion is won on the field rather than by some arbitrary method then it has definitely been earned. London won their place in SL fair and square and if they earn enough points to not finish bottom of SL, they should keep their place. If Wakefield are promoted to SL, then it should be because they've won the Championship GF and not because they've built a new stand.
  5. There's only you saying it was an issue this time.
  6. I don't think that Fev have ever said they're not going to honour the contracts. They had a dispute about one , and they're late paying the others although some or all may have been paid recently. The agent's fees issue has been addressed by the RFL who have told the agent there are proper channels to go down which he has not done according to the RFL. There is a difference between Fev and Leigh's situations. The RFL have not got involved in the situation at Fev, so presumably they are content that it will resolve itself.
  7. The only thing that has been found against Fev was the contract dispute with Ben Mathieu which went Mathieu's way in the small claims court. All the rest currently is he said /she said until proven one way or another. There are claims of late payments, some or all of which may have been paid. There are claims of pension payments missing, which the club strongly deny. There is a claim from an agent for money, where the RFL say he hasn't followed the correct procedures. So at this stage, although it appears to be a bit of a mess, I'm not sure any sanctions can be levied at the club. The RFL aren't even involving themselves. Fev are not the first , nor will they be the last club to have cash flow problems. I seem to remember Whitehaven had problems over the winter but no-one suggested they be demoted or have points deductions.
  8. Also, just playing Devil's Advocate here, but how many of our fans would kick off if we didn't sign the best Championship players available because we didn't match other teams entrance fees. I can see the FB entries now saying, "the club has no ambition" or, "Why can they afford xyz player and not us?". It's a really tough decision for the club, but I guess if the team is successful the fans will still turn up, because we all like to be associated with success and to watch our team playing the best rugby it can.
  9. Our League is reporting that our tie v Leigh is scheduled to be played at 2pm on Saturday 23rd March . The Leeds v Saints game is chosen for BBC coverage on the evening before.
  10. If you win it’s great, but if you lose every excuse in the book comes out: it’s too wet, too muddy, not muddy enough, too rainy, not rainy enough etc etc etc
  11. Think I’m right in saying we only used 3 of the subs as well, remarkable when you think we lost JB after only a couple of minutes.
