does anyone know who's in the North East league this year

Recommended Posts

Tried various club websites and hard to even glean how many divisions

Most have not been updated since last season. Not sure this means they won't run as this is a problem throughout RL at this level

From memory the league was last to publish line ups last year as well. Guess the delay could be them trying to decide whether to run one big division or two small ones

From what I have heard they are planning on running one big league with a merit league for A teams. Think the clubs are close to what finished the league last year, i know Cattrick have started there open age team again so they are the only addition that i've heard for this year.

Most likely find everything out end of this month with league starting last saturday of april or first saturday of may like the past few seasons.

Wallsend Eagles

Jarrow Vikings

Cramlington Rockets

Peterlee Pumas

Durham Demons

Whitley Bay Barbarians

Gateshead Storm A

Durham Tigers

Winlaton Warriors

Catterick Crusaders

Teams play each other once and then there's a split season

Miners didn't play last season after dropping out before the end of the 2014 season. Consett Steelers didn't play last year either.

The teams gone from last year are North Yorkshire Wildcats (guess some of their players will end up at Catterick Crusaders) and reserve teams from Cramlington Rockets and Wallsend Eagles who, I guess, can't play with the first team

has the loss of an officer up there affected teams?

Are Newcastle helping to promote the game in the community?

Perhaps, but by far the biggest killer of clubs has been the small division 1 which clubs just couldn't step up to. Darlington, Teesside Bulls, East Cumbria Crusaders, Sunderland, Catterick Crusaders (first time round), Gateshead Spartans and Miners were all destroyed by the league format, mostly after a successful stint in division 2

What league are Gateshead Storm playing in now? Last I remember they dropped out of NCL.............

I've checked and they're still in the NCL now, not sure if you're thinking of Peterlee Pumas dropping out of the NCL or a few years earlier when Gateshead Storm dropped out of the Rugby League Conference National division
