Ref: Mr J Cobb, should we be worried, I'm sure he as ref us before this season.

This match should be a right cracker, just want some good weather for it now.

I really fancy a good win for the Bulldogs.

Cheers Roger.

£50,000 to the winner....?

that's presuming finishing 7th in the qualifier league pays £500,000

and finishing 8th pays £450,000

we have had too many heavy defeats lately and think this will have taken its toll on confidence, IMO of Course....

hope we can turn it round.

Cobb has come in for some stick this season and from matches I've seen him in, rightly so. He did cost us the game v Bradford at Odsal, no doubt about it, video evidence shows it, 2 forward passes and a try awarded off a ball which had already been made dead, it wasn't sour grapes on our part. Wasn't he in charge last week against Giants, and didn't they score 3 tries off clear forward passes? It's a Super League epidemic, to keep the game flowing, to ignore forward passes if at all possible, and it was good to see Gareth Hewer not stand for it in the cup final, and the look on a few players' faces was priceless. This should be a good game on Sunday, both teams are looking for redemption, just depends which side has taken the coach's rollocking to heart most. Let's hope that Mr. Cobb comes to the game with the right attitude i.e. to let the game take centre stage and not his ego.

This may have been taken care of elsewhere but I'm confused a tad: If, as seems likely, Leeds and Leigh finish 1st and 2nd, who will be in Super League and who will play the 'Million Pound' game? Will Leigh automatically take a place in Super League by finishing in the top 2? Will the top 3 sides be in Super League and the 4th place be taken by the winner of the next highest SL team and qualifier? Advice..........

Top 3 stay in/join super league, 4 plays 5 in Million pound game. Loser and bottom three championship next season

There is a caveat to this which is if any team does not meet minimum standards (thinking about London here) then they are not allow promotion any therefore are moved down the league and therefore miss out on the first 5 placings (which means they would miss out on the million pound game also).

Quote from the operational rules:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

A2:6 Any Championship Club(s) which qualify for the Super 8s Qualifiers but which are not eligible for promotion to the Super League (due to not meeting Facility Standards) shall be entitled to participate in the Super 8s Qualifiers but if, at the end of the Super 8s Qualifiers, any of the Club(s) are 5 th or higher in the Qualifiers league: (a) they shall be deemed to have finished 6th (and 7th if there are 2 such Clubs and 8th if there are 3 such Clubs) for the purpose of determining which Clubs are promoted and/or play in the 4th v 5th Play Off Match; but ("b") shall be considered to be the highest placed Championship Club(s) (in order of finishing position) for the purpose of determining distributions in the Championship for the following Season.

I'm sure I'll think of something funny to say soon.

Winner avoids the wooden spoon so i suppose pride for the team more than anything on the line.

Hopefully we wont ship as many points as in recent weeks and its a good evenly matched entertaining game.

I must admit I hope Leeds ease up a bit should they qualify this weekend, as i dread to think how many they will score next Friday night with the short turnaround from what I expect to be a tough physical game against Featherstone.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law

This doesn't apply to Wakefield though - I wonder why?

I'm sure they'll tell you that they meet minimum standards......

That's the point, they don't. They were/are living at Belle Vue on borrowed time - time that has been borrowed so many time it has a permanent spot at the pawn shop.

Wakefield continue to threaten to leave Belle vue though they have no intentions to do. It's been a cat and mouse game with the council for years. They somehow think that the authorities will magic them a stadium if they keep threatening to go out of the district. However their bluff could be called quicker than they think.

I think the council are pretty much out of the equation now Phil being almost as skint as Trinity are. It is presently the RFL's bluff that is being called, and they seem to be being easily out-maneuvered by the new owner of the land. Still, this will give them another twelve months to decide what they aren't going to do next.
