Hunslet 24, Toulouse 46

Came away from the SLS yesterday thinking that we could and should have done better. Weird first half, we must have had 70% possession but still managed to go 14-0 behind - and should have been more. But we got to grips with them in the second quarter, and 14-12 at half-time, a strong start to the second half might have made it very interesting indeed. But we came out with a whimper, soft tries and daft penalties conceded and we gave ourselves no chance. There's no doubt Toulouse are the best side we've played in this league so far, but I don't think they are unbeatable. Mvududu and Normington our best players yesterday.

One other rather obvious comment that has to be made ... when you only really have two players in your squad who can "make things happen", and one of them is out injured, it's not genius coaching of the n'th degree to put the other one in the team ... is it??

Totally agree with everything you say, we had enough field position and possession to have won that game, but when you have two halfbacks who are the basically same player and only one set move (Jimmy on the run around to the left to feed Muv and Barnett) then you’re going to struggle, we just have got no idea with ball in hand. Our defence and one on one tackling was as poor as I’ve seen, yes Toulouse had some great attacking players but far too often we are trying grab at people and missing basic one on one tackles. Very frustrating, a game we could and should have got something out of, bus as you say when your only flair player can’t make the 17 then we are going to struggle.

A crowd of 328 (with 30+ parents from Hunslet Club Parkside) is a worry, how long can we carry on with them crowds, my guessing is not very long. It’s the lowest league crowd in 6 years, im afraid the Leeds partnership affect on the clubs supporter base is coming back to bite us on the bottom.

Hemel got beat by 70 at Keighley so puts last weeks win into perspective also.

Tough times ahead!

Beaten by an absolute masterclass display by Jonathan Ford the best display of passing and all round play from a stand off that ive seen in many a year. His vision and long passes were incredible.

John, I read on the Championship site on friday George Flanagan had a hamstring injury, however I agree it should have been more widely publicised in the media.

only Jack Lee had any real go forward, but he was on his own. Barnett looked scared .

Tackiling was woeful.

Afraid teaming up with Rhinos is what as killed us, many fans left and now dont seem to want to come back.

Well our supporters who left us over Leeds, are still not coming back are a poor lot then , as they now have their own way , and still don't come , even though we seem to be struggling at this moment in time, they should be here now supporting us.

Pudsey, if they let em in for nowt the people of South Leeds still wouldn't come. For the size of the City, one of the biggest in the UK, the Leeds sporting public must be the worst in the Country. Compared to Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield even Hull, Leeds people would sooner go the Pub or Morrisons than watch Sport.

sport........well hunslet are not dishing out any to watch. its woeful standard of rugby by players who are deemed good enough to play for a semi-pro rugby league team.

watching old boys is by far a more entertaining game. with players putting a shift in every week. for little or no payment

these players most are deemed not good enough .....

I agree. He was tremendous with his passing but why do our wingmen make it easier for our opponents every week by insisting on running infield to mark men who are already on the point of being tackled.

To be fair I cant blame the wingmen getting caught out against this guy who can ping a ball 25-30 yds bang into a wingers hands, it was like going back 30 years and watching Wally Lewis ! Half backs have destroyed us this season Dallimore murdered us up at Barrow, Handforth as usual played in a dinner jacket and even on loan Delaney for Donny and god forbid Jonny Presley all won the scrum half battle against us.

He didn't have a good game but saying that some of the balls he got next to the touchline I don't think anybody could have done much better that crowded in,we really had no dummy runners which in turn didn't leave much room if any at all or overlaps for any winger to really perform...
